Weirdly enough, even though I'm not as into this show as I used to be, I find myself needing to anaylze why I like and don't like the episodes (back when I loved the show reviews were more of the adfsjkdsfkjsfdkj variety).

So, The God Complex.

oh so many, many spoilers )

I was actually discussing this with another friend of mine while catching up with the series. I'm not...absolutely hooked and needing to watch the series anymore. Maybe cause I'm not like everyone else and don't put Moffat on a pedastal and want to suck him off, but seriously, I don't find that hook in a lot of the episodes anymore. And that hook - as you so perfectly put it - is that, I don't have a desire to ever be a companion.

Tennant? Dear god I'd LOVE to travel with that man. He was FUN. He had a childlike wonder in understanding everything that was going on. He made it fun each week even though they were in danger, he made it entertaining and exciting, made it that feel good adventure that I just felt Doctor Who was all about.

And nothing against Matt Smith but I just...I don't get that love from him. He's a great actor and he does the Doctor well. But he's not. And Moffat seems to want to press the "OMG the Doctor is a TERRIBLE man" and the death of the Doctor and it gets depressing after awhile. We get it, the Doctor isn't always the best at making choices. But that's why he has a companion to keep him sane. One that doesn't seem to brush off stuff like her daughter being used to kill the man she ~believed~ in for so long.

I'll still watch it, but it's not the same series I used to love :< I'm just going to go rewatch season 4 inbetween.
