Health, dogs and a few not particularly spoilery DW thoughts

Update on state of health; days are fine, nights are rough, days are consequentially filled with rather more catch up sleeping than is optimal so I seem to be chasing my tail a bit trying to get things done in daylight hours. Still, getting better.

Have moreorless convinced Spouse that a puppy in the Spring is a reasonable idea, provided that I'm fairly well. Kili will be just turned 3 years old and is pretty well trained now- there doesn't seem to be a better time to add a second dog. At the moment I'm looking at Springer spaniel/miniature poodle crosses (Sproodles) which generally turn out about Kili's size, very good natured, intelligent, good with other animals and not as potentially unquenchable and ball-obsessive as pure bred spaniels. Probably a lot more bounce than Kili though! I've noticed over the last few months that he particularly loves playing with the local Cockapoos, who are the next size down (Cocker spaniel/poodle crosses) and quite common round here. I'd prefer not to go for a dog that could turn out much smaller than Kili though. (With a house full of animals already a rescue dog is not a reasonable option- on the rare occasion that one turns up which could fit in there are plenty of people queuing to adopt it already. Mostly the shelters are full of Staffy crosses, lovely dogs in their own right but not something you'd happily leave your cats with.)

I would have very much liked to like Doctor Who more than I did. I might write something about it later this week. We watched a repeat of Sherlock's The Great Game straight afterwards which remains a brilliant piece of TV however many times I see it. I think maybe my problem with Doctor Who these days is mostly me, not it. I want something as coolly rational and finely crafted as Sherlock, and that's of course not what DW sets out to be. DW sets out to move you, and if you're not inclined to be moved by either the raw emotion or the glossy spectacle then it's not always got that much else to offer.

Anyway there is another half hour of daylight so I'd better put the goats away and take the dog out. I will be posting the chapters of Spiderweb here at some point, if anyone fancies an ongoing Charles Magnussen/Mycroft Holmes/Jim Moriary fic. Sherlock really spoils me with characters!
