Character
Name: Isis Ishtar
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Role: Student, 9th grade
Background (AU): Isis grew up in Egypt, alongside her younger brother Malik and supported by their servant/adopted elder brother Rishid; her mother passed away giving birth to Malik, so their father holds absolute sway over the household. The Ishtars are a family of well-to-do, rather eccentric Egyptians who oppose the excavation of the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Because her father in particular sees much of the world as being against them, he forbids his children to interact much with others their age, or with anyone who doesn't share his ideals. Both Isis and Malik have thus been homeschooled all their lives, and only rarely leave the house unaccompanied.
Isis wants to be a dutiful daughter and do as her father dictates, but she worries constantly that Malik, who is growing far more restless with their narrow circle, will someday rebel outright. She Awakens as a Moirae with a vision of Malik communicating in secret with strangers - and upon confronting her brother, he admits he's been talking to other kids and their big siblings however he can. Isis is worried, but takes that she'd somehow managed to "see" this situation as a sign she needs to change it.
In the hopes of offering her brother an alternate route, she implores her father to let her study abroad, to learn more of the world in preparation to deal with it as an archaeologist - if an Ishtar child successfully obtains a post with the
Supreme Council of Antiquities, they can work from within the system instead of without to begin returning artifacts at least to Egypt proper. Her father is opposed, at first, but Isis lays out her plan, including the school she's selected: Sophia Academy, where she might make valuable connections. Her father grudgingly agrees, and Isis leaves Egypt, feeling guilty for standing up to her father - but certain it'll be best for Malik in the end.
Personality: Naturally solemn and a fretter, Isis has developed into a particularly mature child by circumstances - worrying about Malik and her father's obsessions have encouraged her to grow up quickly. Although her own feelings about her father's pet issue don't line up exactly with her own, she defers to his authority and fears his disapproval. (Her knowledge of and nostalgia for ancient times do, however, make her open to the existence of supernatural phenomena - she accepts the truth of her visions, especially after questioning Malik about them.) "Cultural appropriation" is a weighty thing for a fifteen year old to be saddened by, but that's Isis - always seeming at least five years too old, and selfless to boot.
As they know so few other children, she and Malik are very close - he's the one person for whom Isis would do absolutely anything, even defying her own beliefs in her duty within their family. She tries her best to be strict with him, but Malik usually ends up getting his way - she's not nearly as inflexible as she seems, and with enough tugs at her heartstrings most people will be able to get her to relent in an argument.
Isis has grown up with a strong sense of duty, and an inclination towards more intellectual pursuits. She'll study hard and respect people in positions of authority, though if she feels she has the edge in a conversation she may become slightly playful, having picked up a thing or two about persuasive speaking. An older sister through and through, she may end up dispensing advice or scolding others, even upperclassmen. She'll be particularly critical of anyone she catches breaking the rules, though she'll also worry.
Isis believes very strongly in fate. She's able to accept most things as they come simply because she believes there's a greater force at work moving people's lives to an important end. This belief that everything is for a purpose allows her to shoulder quite a lot without breaking under the strain, though as she's still young cracks might show through.
Moira's Gift: Visions - she gets involuntary glimpses of what people she knows are doing at the moment. With dedication and focus she can willingly search for something, but she's yet to successfully manage this.
Other Abilities: Other than a knack for languages, nothing.
Archon
Name: Spiria
Appearance: A metallic, rougher version of
this (sorry for the bad image, they're hard to find) - a winged, harpy-looking creature in a robe.
Primary Attacks: Spiria is primarily a defensive Archon - it dodges well - but it can also attack by slashing at the opponent with its claws. Isis would use it primarily for its special ability to help any allies, as it's not an Archon particularly suited for solo combat.
Its secondary form looks much like the first, but wears what looks like armor instead of a robe. Its face, when Isis has fused with it, also resembles hers. She's a long way from being able to reach this level, however, having never even manifested Spiria.
Special Ability: Also related to vision - it can see at tremendous distances, and transmit back to Isis what it sees in the form of spotty visions like her Moirae Gift.
