A little Me time

I am proud to say that I was the director of a fantastic Brown Bag production for my Directing 2 class. The work that my actors put into it and the product that we came out with was phenomenal. It was absurd how fantastic it went. It was a stress free production, the rehearsals went well and the Night Showing, which was yesterday, went so much better than I could have hoped. Not only was the audience on point and right there with the actors as they went on, but my actors them selves hit all the big moments just right.

It is a triumph if I do say so myself.

There are still things that I would like to fix. Little moments that my actors skipped over that I think could bring a fulfilling experience to the play as well as fully flesh out the characters. I saw some moments that I didn't before that I would have liked to pick out and highlight. Of course I don't think that I'll ever be super happy with anything I do. I can always find something to fix.

Though a thought that I came upon as I sat watching with a packed audience, was that Nicky (played by Will Jones) really was completely alone. He makes mention of being alone near the end, but it's really apparent that he's alone even in the beginning because not only is Danielle (played by Lauren Meyers) not able to understand the conspiracy that is feeding his paranioa but also the whole audience doesn't believe or understand what he's saying. I don't think there was a person in that audience that was able to say, You know what he's right. Once Nicky loses Danielle he really is fully and completely alone.

I find that very interesting.
