And so it begins

The 2nd book to sell shipped for the much more reasonable price of $4 via Media Mail.  SO MUCH BETTER.  Which is good to know, seeing as I got a third request for yet another acting book.  Apparently even being old, some of them are worth something.  And I still think that I'm making more than if I has sold them back to the Chapman bookstore. The second one went for $65 which is nice.  The 3rd which I'm shipping tomorrow assuming I can make it to the post office on time, is an $8 profit.

Also started my first day of FW2 again.  This could be an incredibly overwhelming experience or it could be awesome.

The binder of reading material they handed us each, was..is huge.  It's a 2 1/2 ring binder that's very nearly full.  Apparently it's the student binder they are planning on using throughout the future of their student program, which has just started.  Meaning myself, Jose, and the USC FW1 student coming later in the semester are the first ever at this site!  Thankfully, they appear to be super organized, seeing as the binder is filled, tapped, and ordered based on what they're expecting to teach in each week.  There's even a check list of what we're supposed to do each week for EVERY WEEK all ready for us.

This is a huge difference from the last FW2 that I did.  Where getting information regarding a plan from my CI was quite the challenge.

Now I can basically tell you the gist of what's going to go on 13 weeks from now.

I get spring break.  Or should I say that spring break has been forced upon me.  However, as I'm hoping that the school system agrees with me and that is where I end up (Kids seem great in general and can't argue with the schedule) I'm not going to bemoan the spring break which extends my FW stay by a week.

My CI is pretty involved.  She's got a ridiculous case load (about 87 clients) and does majority of the eval's for intake, discharge, and transition.  My goals here being to be such a good student that I am an asset to their team and they then consider hiring me once I get my license. But not trying to get my hopes up as they have recently hired two new OTs..

Other plans involve submitting to EVERyTHING!  I'm giving some real consideration to moving to San Fran for a couple of years.  And then moving back to this general LA/Southern Cali area.  OR Hawaii.  Though the chances of me coming back from Hawaii are slim to none.  Perhaps if I every actually wanted to own a house.  I've been watching the HGTV show based around Hawaii and the actual houses are insanely prices.  The Condos are much nicer priced but it's a condo.  I don't enjoy sharing walls or paying HOA dues.

One of the activities that I need to add to my list of TO DO's is updating the old resume.  Which in my case basically means a general overhaul as my spotty resume hardly applies any more (short stints at Theaters and retail are useless, and I'm not sure how much they care about my time as a "handywoman" when working with my family).

I also want to review all the pamphlets and websites from job fairs and conferences so I can start creating a list of interesting possibilities. It would be helpful to set up a database with locations and other considerations.  Travel OT is still intriguing (you average 3-6 months in different locations throughout all the US) but the general lack of mentor ship is scary for a new grad.

My CI told us not to read today.  Let it all sink in and relax.  I've only half listened to her, but this seems like a good way to do less required reading and less TV watching at the same time. Prepping lunch for tomorrow is the next step.

Parting thought; I need to OT my own organizational skills.
