Lately, I've felt a lot like Mort Rainey. I want a nap. :P More then probably it's because it's so bloody hot outside, but I still find it funny. Especially when my hair winds up not so dissimilar from Mort's in the end, lol. That was the best part of the whole damn movie, btw. I loved that he went most of the movie looking like a bum. Really, who hasn't just spent a day at home all by your onsey, wandering around in your most comfortable rags, not caring at all about how you look, because you don't have to? It's not a bad way to spend an afternoon. :P
I may actually post a prologue to a fic I've been toying with for awhile, if I ever get motivated to actually type it up.

Anyway, moving along. Once again, my mind has gone wandering. This time it decided to contemplate Jack's relationship with Anamaria, thanks to yet another viewing of COTBP. Just what are they to one another? I don't mean in a romantic fashion, it was pretty clear there wasn't any of that going on. I actually got more of a brother/sister vibe from them.
It's obvious that as soon as he suspects she's there, he's dreading her reaction. When she slaps him, that's the only time that he owns up to actually deserving it. He's very much not the cocky captain he plays for everyone else, though he sure as hell tries. So, I wonder. How close are they? How long have they known each other? Did they grow up together, somewhere, and stay allies as they moved into adults in the pirate world? Did one perhaps take the other in when they were in a real pinch when they were younger, and it stuck?
Why did Jack steal her boat? Was it just that he happened to be in the same area as her and it was convenient? Or did he know that she'd be there to help, and he just bungled it up in the way he chose to have her help? I think he actually did seem to have really intended to return her boat to her. The look on his face reminds me of a sibling that has borrowed a pair of sunglasses or something, then accidentally sits on them, lol.
Is their relationship, whatever it is, more on again off again since they're both pirates and travel around? Ana isn't on the ship after COTBP. Is Tortuga her home base, or did she just happen to be there when Gibbs was recruiting, and went to give Jack a stinging piece of her mind?
