Red O...

Red O Is located on Melrose In Hollywood. It’s a lovely place with kind of crazy decor with a very organic woody feel to it. The atmosphere is very hip and trendy and from the minute you see the big red sign you can tell you’re in Hollywood.

Red O is not the same place as The O Bar, is it?

i've never been to either, just curious :)

you should put this review on yelp. i love how detailed you were.

Nope two different places.

Thank you. I like writing them as soon as I get home so that its all fresh in my mind but I take notes at the table scratching down interesting bits and pieces.

Yelp kinda grosses me out. I don't like the way people act on that website for the most part it seems like people who hate the place already going with bad expectations and then making them come to life because they believe their foodies is a bit pretentious to me. I don't write these to review per say the place but so that I remember and show my interpretation of what I've learned from the culinary and cultural stand point of being somewhere at a certain time.

I just like the fact that later on i can look at this and remember that time and those flavors and find a bit of my own cooking in return.
giving stars and all that other stuff doesn't appeal to me because I know how hard it is to actually run a restaurant and how mistakes happen it shouldn't determine the whole out come of an experience. People take things to seriously.

hmm, interesting viewpoint. i've never worked in the food industry, but i've worked in customer service for years and i know how hard it is to please everybody. a lot of yelp isn't just restaurants, but i see what you mean. people can be brutal on there. at the same time, i like to find out when the best nights are to go places, or who i should ask for the next time i get a haircut.

most of the time, i don't look at yelp until AFTER i've been somewhere. i like to go in with an open mind, then see what everyone else thought. i've been to 4-star places that i thought sucked, and 2-star places that i love!

There will always be something that could be pretty bad about a place in a given time regardless of anything. I've done so much customer service myself... Starbucks, banking, retail, food that I know how difficult it is to come by good service.

Like you said yelp is good for a lot of things i just choose not to review on there because sure everyone has their opinion but i just don't see why making a shrieking horrible fuss really does any good for anyone.I'm the kinda person that's a Go and check it out see for myself type.

It also has to do with when people review your work. I've had reviews excellent, good, bad. and okay written about places I've worked and when you see those kind of criticisms about you, you definitely think twice about the words you use and the way you see things. a bad day is a bad day

not saying that bad experience don't happen but everything is open for interpretation. I like keeping an open mind and keeping the whole star mentality out of the picture.

Life is just experience some good some bad
:)
