Dear Reader, Welcome to our tale. As is wont, this is set neither here nor there, nor now or then, but anywhere and everywhere, and at any and every time.
Or story begins, as most often do, with a once upon a time. But here there are several.
Once upon a time, there was a prince, who was very much in love with his best friends.
Once upon a time, there was a pirate who was tired of his job.
Once upon a time, there were two boys, best friends, and inseparable till one went to become a knight.
Once upon a time, a little girl lost her parents, and went to live with her cousin.
None of those are this once upon a time, although they each come to play a role in our tale.
Once upon a time there were four little boys. None of them knew each other while they were little boys. In fact, two of them were little boys long before the other two's parents' parents were even born.
The first little boy, Ryan, was born a long, long time ago.
And when Ryan was young (for a dragon) he met Spencer. Spencer was five. When Spencer was twenty his parents died. His sisters already taken care of, he lived with his friend.
The curious thing about Dragon magic, is that sometimes it rubs off.
Several many years later, two other little boys, Brendon and Jon, were born.
Jon led a happy, but not wealthy, childhood and eventually turned to the sea to earn his fortune.
Brendon's parents were well off, but died young, and he became a ward of the state, and ended up being raised in the castle with young Princess Greta, who had also lost her parents.
This is where our story starts.
