I've returned to my job in Internet Technical support, now been through week 2. Let me give you all an idea of what this has been like. I contacted the HR and Scheduling people about a month before I planned on going back. They were giving me the schedule I requested of Tuesday - Thursday: 9a - 1p and Friday 8a - 4:30p
Week one:
Tuesday - I show up and say hello to my supervisor. He gives me my phone login and promptly leaves for a staff meeting. So I sit down and wonder 'Now what is my computer login?' I knew they gave me back my old userid and e-mail address, but as for the passwords, I had no idea. So I went and found the scheduling manager.. She was nice enough to tell me what the password is. This is no problem. I logged in, and got started.
Now I think I should bring up that I've been gone about six months, and a lot has changed in the DSL Department. Company policy also states that you can only move to a 'speciality' team after 90 days. I guess I'm special then, since I was thrown into the DSL queue immediately.
Everything else was pretty uneventful for the rest of the day... Until...
Later that night I checked my e-mail. Only to discover that I was marked as leaving early. The schedule had retained my old full-time schedule from 6 months ago... Just keeps getting better.
Wednesday - First day of Telecommuting
I wander downstairs to the computer that I set up to telecommute from. I start it up and attempt to log in to the phone server which is web-based. It will not allow me to download the addon/cab/java thingy that it needs to run. Great. I play with the security settings in XP while my supervisor tries to find our LAN Admin. Fast forward an hour or so..
"You have SP 2 Installed? That's the problem, it doesn't work on SP2. Sorry, I forgot to warn you."
Okay, so I spent the next 2 hours of my shift re-installing XP since I installed it with SP2 integrated.
I logged in for a glorious 20 minutes, I believe.
Thursday - Scheduling person changed my schedule. Correct hours but wrong days. Arg. I e-mail scheduling again for the 4th time. I also ask about my missing timeclock login. I get no reply.
Friday - Finally my schedule is fixed. Now I just need to deal with all the fun the phone server has caused. Half the calls I try to get do not ring through and drop, which leaves me at "NO ANSWER"--that is bad. Or, they will not ring through, but show that I answered, and screw up my stats. But that's normal, nothing new from when I worked before. The LAN admin knows of my troubles, but can do nothing.
Week 2:
Tuesday - Schedule is now fixed, but I still do not have a Time Clock log in to report my time. I've been e-mailing the scheduling manager and HR Manager my hours. Phone server still fucked, but too worried about my MCSE Windows XP test.
Wednesday - Still no timeclock log in. This week the phone server has started dropping my calls at random. I'll be talking to someone and the line will go dead, and my status will change back to 'available'. I made a point of noting the persons' account whenever this happened. I also informed the LAN admin of this. He of course, can do nothing.
Thursday - My birthday. My supervisor decides to bother me about my 'stats'. I was below 80% because of the phone server not sending me calls correctly. I knew this, he knew this and the LAN admin knew this as well. I got very annoyed at this. Oh, still no timeclock login, either.
Friday - My weekly return to the call center. I log into the computer and the phone and take my calls without any of the nasty dropping. I ask the scheduling person about my timeclock login - and her reply is: "It's the same as it was before!" Well, I haven't used it for 6 months.. Yeah, I've forgotten it.
She tells me she'll let me know what it is. It is now 12:05 on saturday morning. I have no time clock login. I e-mailed her my hours for friday in the call center and asked again if someone could tell me what the log in is. We'll see if I get a reply.
But in happier news, everyone else seems to be happy that I've come back.
