What are you digging on your holiday playlist this year?
I have to admit the iPod has increased my enjoyment of holiday music. We're especially enjoying:
The Trojan Records Christmas Box Set - more than 40 vintage reggae classics - for hella cheap in iTunes. "We Wish You A Irie Christmas" How fun is that?
Three Suites - Duke Ellington - The Duke's inspired arrangement of the Nutcracker Suite and more
Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas - Ella Fitzgerald was born to swing Christmas.
A Swinging Christmas featuring the Count Basie Big Band - Tony Bennett - This is a new release and it's pretty great. I'd like to hear more of the big band. Bennett's aging voice is pretty touching and number of the songs are tinged with melancholy. I wasn't expecting that. It's still a very good album, just a bit more pensive the others.
