“Hey man,” A cherry voice filled with excitement greeted from behind the bar that he was sitting.
“Hey,” Cale greeted back, his lips tucked a wide grinned.
“I see that you’re alone tonight,” The voice continued, his hands were busy preparing order.
The club was weirdly full house tonight.
Well, he’s sure not going to complaint about it.
The more drinks that he served, the more tips he will get later.
“Kris, you do know why I’m here, right?” Cale smirked widely, receiving a small quirk from the corner of Kris lips.
Not that he ever asked James to hang out with him, but every time he asked, James will say no to his invitation.
What a weirdo.
“Oh you bet I do.”
After he served the drink, Kris went back to Cale, his eyes twitched with excitement.
“Can I get you something, man?”
“Maybe just beer, I need to be sober tonight.”
While Kris was busy preparing the order, Cale took the time to check out every single girl that crossed his sight.
If he lucky, he might get laid tonight.
“Who do you have your eyes on?” Kris chirped in, his hand was serving the drink.
He noticed that his friend was busy looking into the busy crowd.
There must be someone who attracted Cale’s attention.
Cale took a small sipped from his drink, shrugging, “That blonde chick. But it looks like she’s got some companies.”
“You got the package man. I wouldn’t worry that much.”
“I don’t know,” Cale scratched the back of his head a little.
“I still think it’s better for you to have some small chat with her, instead of sitting here checking out her boobs,” Kris remarked playfully.
“Hey,” Cale shook his head a little giggled, “Do not read what’s on my mind.”
“Go ahead,” Kris said encouraging, pushing Cale off his seat, “The next drink was on me.”
Cale quirked his eyebrows to which Kris chuckled happily, “Just thought you might need that.”
It’s true that he felt lonely and Kris was right.
He could use some company tonight.
“Alright,” Cale smiled happily, “You better pay up for that drink.”
Kris gave a mocked salute to Cale, watching his friend approaching the girl.
He shot a small arrow to the blonde, and the next moment was happened exactly like how he wanted.
The girl was all over Cale and Cale seemed excited as well.
Sure he meant what he said just now, but deep down his heart he also knew that Cale also felt threaten with his own insecurity.
It’s been 2 years he monitored his boy, and so far he’s proud with his achievement.
There’s nothing can make him proud than to watch Cale started to enjoy his life again.
☯☯☯☯☯
As she stirred her drink slowly, her mind slowly drifted into things that happened at the office.
Sarah was sure that James might like Cale, probably more than just as his boss but he didn’t know that yet.
And then there was Cale who kept touching James every second minutes.
James had confided that Cale had never discusses his personal problem with him.
She was expecting it will go the opposite direction judging by how close they were.
She let out a desperate sighed; hoping things would go easy for her.
She didn’t want to shoot the wrong arrow when the moment came.
Snapping her finger, James’s file was appeared out from thin air into her hand.
Sarah went through the file again to see if she can get any clue in it.
While she was lost in her thought, a soft wind was breezed from her side together with a few flock of feather pooped out into the air.
“What are you doing?”
Jumped out from her skin, Sarah shot him an annoyingly glare, “Will you stop doing it, please?”
Looking at her back, she whispered quietly, “We are in public eyes.”
“Said the girl who pop out a book out of nowhere,” Mark smirked widely making Sarah rolled her eyes even more, “How was the progress?”
“Confusing,” Sarah sighed exhaustedly, her hand closed the file and she put it on the table softly.
Taking a deep breath she continued, “Can you please tell me if Cale, who is James’s boss is gay and we can be done with it?”
“As much as I want that to happen,” Mark stated hesitantly, “I’m afraid I can’t access his file at the moment.”
“Then why are you taking this case?” Sarah exclaimed a little, “It doesn’t make sense at all.”
“Oh come on babe,” Mark chuckled which stopped abrupt in the middle when he realized what he just called Sarah.
“What did you just call me?” Sarah asked confuzzeled.
She knew what she heard, and it wasn’t her name.
“I mean… I…,” Mark stuttered as his heart started racing, “Technically I have followed you around the entire day, that’s how I got the input about them."
To his relieved, Sarah was reading her file again.
He was glad that Sarah didn’t make the situation awkward.
Most of the girls that he met were already on his neck for some small word that came out from his mouth.
Sarah put down her file again. Feeling thirsty, she sipped on her drink slowly.
“I don’t get why Cale was acting all flirty and James let him do that,” Sarah sighed again and this time it’s very heavy, “He really need to stop Cale before his feeling get hurt.”
“I’m definitely don’t like the idea of James having unrequited love for his boss.”
“At least James hasn’t realized it yet,” Mark chirped in, “Thanks to Cale who always hugs him on every small occasion.”
“It’s just a matter of time,” Sarah stated calmly, “His cheeks starting to blush whenever Cale look at him.”
“Well, we better figure this one out quickly, before James realizes his feeling and got hurt.”
“Why can’t you access Cale’s file?” Sarah stated annoyingly, “Aren’t you have some kind of power to do it?”
Mark tore his gaze from her as his lips mumbled, “I can but his file was already gone.”
“Hold up,” Sarah raised her hand tried to process the latest news, “You mean there’s another cupid other than you and me?”
Only cupid can get a hold of the human file, Sarah knew about it.
If it’s true, she probably can feel it, but she felt nothing when she bumped on him this morning.
Mark shrugged lightly when an incoming call intruded their conversation.
Mark took a quick slip on his drink when Sarah answered her phone.
When he heard a soft sobbed right next to him, he felt curious and shifted his attention on her again.
It tore his heart apart when he saw the tears that well up in her eyes.
“What’s wrong Sarah?” Mark placed his hand softly on her hand tried to calm her down.
She didn’t care that her phone was dropped on the floor.
A touch from her crush was all she needed to break her wall down.
Mark didn’t expect things will go worse. He tentatively pulled her on his lap, his hand hugging her tightly.
“Please tell me, what had happen to you?”
“My family,” Sarah tried to fight her chocked from her own tears feast, “Something bad just happen to them.”
“All of them?”
“No,” Sarah shook her head letting Mark to hold her like this, “My uncle.”
Hugging her tightly, Mark rubbed circle on her back as he soothed her with comfort words.
“We’ll find a way to help your uncle, okay?” Mark kept her close to his chest feeling his own shirt started to wet.
Whatever it is, he hoped everything will be alright again.
After all that she’s been through, Sarah deserved all the happiness the most.
