“That’s the plan Mark,” James smiled fondly as his mind was racing about their plan.
His smiled grew bigger when he caught the presence of his husband walking into the living room.
“Yeap, that’s it for now. Thanks Mark. I owe you big time,” James bided his goodbye and hung up the call.
Watching his husband was taking a seat on their couch, he quickly sat down next to him, one hand plopped on the side of his forehead watching his husband.
Cale softly rubbed his temple, laying his back to the couch.
He shifted his eyes to his side with a small smiled tugged on his lips.
“Hey babe,” Cale whispered softly.
James scooted a little closer to him, pulling Cale to lie on his lap, “Rough day I guess?”
Cale nodded slowly as he continued rubbing his temple, trying to make his head lie comfortably on his husband lap.
“Would you like some aspirin, love?” James worriedly asked and replaced Cale’s hand with him, rubbing circle on Cale’s forehead.
Sighing in content, Cale looked up to James’s concerned eyes, “I’m good James”.
The quietness started filling the room, but it didn’t bother Cale that much as he enjoyed James’s hand on him, breathing in comfortably.
After he was sure his headache was gone, Cale reached out to James with his eyes opened a little, mouthing a silent “thank you” for taking care of him.
“I will go and take some water for you,” James said leaving a chaste kiss on the forehead and ready to get up.
Nevertheless, Cale gripped on the wrist and pulled the body flushed to him, literally have James stumbled and landed on top of his chest.
“Stay with me for a while, please?” Cale plead hopefully.
James knew it’s impossible to resist the request, not when Cale looked at him like that.
“Okay,” James nodded softly and settled next to Cale, cuddled on his chest like they always do.
James mindlessly played with Cale’s shirt button, enjoying the warmth that radiated from Cale’s body.
And damn, he’s accidentally unbuttoned the top of the shirt.
His heart was growing faster as his caught the skin that showed from his husband chest.
As if everything in cue, his body was shifting a little when he realized Cale was tighten his grip on his shoulder.
James can feel his heart was racing, being held so close like this.
Smirking, Cale leaned against James ear and whispered seductively, “I’m ready if you are, babe.”
Without a warned, James shot a glare to Cale blushed deeply, “It was an accident, am not doing it on purpose.”
That statement somehow made Cale laughed, even though it’s not sounded that funny for James.
“You are way too cute for your own damn good, James,” Cale carefully examined James reaction, his other hand softly carded through that dark haired boy.
Just as he expected, James would rolled his eyes to his compliment.
“Yeah right,” James scoffed lightly as he left a soft kiss on Cale’s cheek, “I’m the one who married the hottest and sexiest guitarist, not the other way around.”
Smirking, Cale sighed heavily; his eyes stared deeply into James.
He literally ignored the burn on his cheeks, only to find James’s turn even redder.
It’s just hard to pretend that his heart didn’t beat so fast and he knew James was also felt the same.
“More like a stupid dork who always argues with you on everything,” Cale left a soft sighs knowing what he said was true.
He didn’t meant to argue with James, but somehow some way his ego will storm out of his control.
James seemed to notice the hazel eye suddenly grew smaller.
Smiling knowingly, James traced the scruffy face carefully, “But you are also the dork who makes me scream every night. To be honest, I never take any of our argument seriously.”
Their eyes met again with smiled spread on their cheeks.
Feeling overwhelm in his heart, Cale wanted to show that he does loves his husband, and he does appreciate for standing still with him all this time.
Cale shifted to the side of the couch, hovered James with his body.
James can sense the tense that start building up in the pit of his stomach when their eyes met.
Without any hesitation, he pulled himself up a little only to have Cale’s lip met him in the middle.
It’s not a secret that they had done this a millions time, and yet James feel utterly flustered.
He still moaned every time Cale’s prodded his tongue inside him.
The pressure that Cale put on his lips was way beyond amazing.
Cale playfully stole a bite of James’s bottom lips before he moved to James’s neck, kissing all over them.
There was nothing that can beat the sensation from making out after a long hour at studio.
Probably it’s the thing that he looked forward every time he reached his home.
He moved back to his man lip, earning more moans from James.
After all these years, he still found James clutched on his shirt when they were making out, as if he will vanish into the thin air if James was let go off his shirt.
The most awesome part was the firework that kept firing inside his head every time his lips met James. It burned most brightly when James was pressing his lip harder.
“Damn,” James slowly took his breathe again, his hand keep stroking Cale scruffy face, “I am so hard right now, Cale.”
“I know,” Cale chuckled lightly, “You turned me on too.”
Settling his both leg on the back of Cale, James gave his biggest smirked, “Fuck me.”
“Right here?” Cales felt dumbstruck to the request, “On this couch?”
When he saw James was meant with what he said, they both quickly threw their shirt off the couch.
------------------
Sarah already started counting her big day. Her eyes wrinkled into a small smiled, excitement was overwhelming her heart.
Though Mark was away for a few weeks, she knew he will come back to celebrate her birthday together.
Or else she might need to consider a break up with him.
It will be a few days before the big day, but she already prepared the party on her own.
What’s left was sending the invitation card to her work colleagues, a few phone call to her beloved friend, James and Lauren with their spouse and of course her parent and her future to be in law.
It’s been a while Sarah got the chance to talk to James or Lauren.
She did remembered attending James wedding with the most beloved man, Cale who happened to be Kris best friend before she left the town with Mark.
Well, Lauren… will be Lauren, the most carefree girl she ever known.
She quickly jolted down Kris’s name to the invitation list just so she would not forget to call him up later.
After she was sure everything was in their place, Sarah moved back to her laptop to continue her work.
------------------
“All nice and done, “James said smugly as he finally finished cleaned up the couch again.
An arm sneaked around his waist, and it didn’t surprised James when that scruffy face was scratching on his nape, “I love when we both caught up in a moment like that.”
“It’s the best time to see you are so willing to follow my instruction,” Cale added.
James turned to face his man, his both hands snapped on both Cale’s cheeks.
“Are you trying to say that I’m stubborn?”
To which James surprised, Cale drew a small laughed instead, “What I meant is that I love to see you’re begging for my mercy.”
“It’s compliment because I knew I was done the right thing… to make you happy.”
And there it was, the butterfly feeling that knot in the pit of his stomach…just by hearing that, it makes James felt all warm and fuzzy inside.
That feeling that makes James wanted to jump up and down like a little boy because the man that he loves so much was confessing his feeling to him.
He can imagine Cale face if he really did that jump thing.
Instead, he settled his both hands on top of that strong chest, and stared into the hazel eyes, “I’m happy to be with you, Cale. Too happy until at some point I wish I could do the same for you.”
“I’m happy,” Cale quickly replied without skipping a heartbeat, “I love the way that I feel for you. I don’t know how you still want me in your life, but here I am, holding you like I deserve it.”
“You deserve it,” James replied, his heart started racing again, “let’s just say my stubbornness is doing me a favour this time.”
It’s not a usual thing for Cale to confess how he felt, but when he did, it felt different.
And it makes him happy because every time he exchanged his gazed with James, that brown eyes was being truth like the word that came from the man himself.
Sighing contently, he captured his man lips only to have James replied back as passionate as him.
It felt right… to hold James like this in his arms.
They both finally stopped from making out when the need to breathe starting to compile inside them.
Turning the television on, Cale instantly pulled James to his lap, holding him tight against his chest.
James can’t help but smirked a little.
Sure it felt nice to be hold like this, and he likes to be held like this.
But it also makes him think about the weight that he put on Cale.
Nevertheless, there’s nothing he can do since it’s impossible to escape from the tight grip.
“Cale…,” James voice was almost audible to which he got “umhumm” response from Cale, “It’s only a few days before Sarah’s birthday, right?”
To his surprise, Cale was looking at him questioningly.
“What about it?” Cale piped up, “I’m sure Mark will be there to celebrate with her.”
“I know. I just thought it would be nice to celebrate her big day together. Plus, it’s been a while since we meet each other.”
“You missed her,” Cale smiled knowingly as James nodded his head, “What you have in mind babe?”
“Apparently Mark is in NY City for his tour. I just got off the phone earlier.”
“Seriously James,” Cale can’t help but giggled a little bit, “If I didn’t know you better, I will think that you may need few more days to come up with a plan.”
And boy, that dark haired boy was always one step ahead of him.
“What’s the plan?” Cale fully averted his eyes to James, ignoring the sound that came from the television.
This would be one hell interesting.
------------------
“Never skip any of your meals and please do watch what you eat too,” Sarah sighed deeply.
Being away was one thing, to not know whether he was eating properly or not was another thing.
Mark huffed lightly, but there’s also a small bright smiled that creep on his face.
He’s not used to listen to other people advice about his life, but Sarah was sure an exception.
“Don’t worry. I’ve never skip any of my meal yet,” Mark tried to undertone his voice.
Annoyed maybe but Sarah was just looked after him, and he can’t blame her for being over concerned.
“I’m just reminds you but if you don’t like it, I will not going to fuss about it again,” She lie on her chair, her other hand softly tracing Mark photo.
She missed him, badly.
If only Mark can read into her card sometimes…
There’s a light laughed over the phone and she can sense the warm that coming from his voice, “Sunshine, I’m going to be alright. I just can’t wait to be home with you again.”
“When will be your last tour?” Sarah asked curiously.
Of course she knew about it but she really wanted Mark be with her on her birthday.
“Do you believe in miracle?” Mark asked.
“Of course I do.”
“Then comes and picks me up this Friday. If am lucky, I should be at the airport, waiting for you.”
“What if I’m going and you are not there?”
“Then I guess luck was not on my side,” Mark barked a small laughed.
“Not funny,” Sarah pissed, “I’m not going to stand there and waiting like a fool.”
“Suit yourself,” Mark slipped out another giggled, “You’re the one who loss if you don’t believe in miracle.”
He knew what he was getting into, but it’s fun to tease Sarah once in a while.
“You’ll be in trouble if you’re making me wait this Friday,” Sarah huffed silently.
“You are a dead meat if you’re making me waiting,” She thought to herself.
“It’ll be worth it,” Mark added and Sarah can hear someone was calling him at the background, “I gotta go Sunshine. Talk later okay?”
“Okay.”
She was ready to hang up the call but decide not to when she heard Mark said, “I love you Sunshine. Take care of yourself. I’ll be home in no time.”
“I love you too Mark.”
And there’s another giggled from Mark before the call was ended.
She was ready to take her sleep when her phone suddenly ringing …again.
Looking on the screen, she can’t help but felt a little curious.
It’s an unknown number.
Feeling curious, she picked up the call even though she didn’t felt right.
“Hello?”
“Hey there, Sarah,” A happy voiced was coming from the call.
“Who is this?” The curiosity started to build up in her heart.
And it was happening.
She can’t help but barked out loud when there is another voice saying, “Give me the phone Cale.”
“Oh my god,” Sarah kept giggled as the banter was going on the phone, “Seriously guys, put the phone on loud speaker so I can talk to both of you in the same time.”
And this time it’s James voice who answered her request, “Sorry Sarah. We didn’t mean to disturb your night but you know Cale. He likes to tease me.”
“Oh, I know,” Sarah replied happily and she can’t help but to laugh again when she heard James yelped into the phone.
“Guys, please … the loud speaker,” She demanded and the banter suddenly went into a silent.
“Hello?” Sarah curiously asked over the phone and this time she checked her screen to see if the call was still there or not.
She felt a little relief when James voice found his way back, “I’m so so sorry, Sarah. Cale was being silly.”
“So what’s up? It’s been a while, right?”
It’s true. She can’t remember the last time she to talk to either one of them.
“We both are fine here,” Cale replied, “How’s thing going on between you and Mark?”
“It’s going great,” Even though she still feel hurt imagined that Mark might not be there to celebrate her birthday.
But she’s not going to say that to her friends.
“Mark on tour right now though,” Sarah added quietly.
“He will be okay,” James piped up, “Have you contact him or send him text?”
“I just got off the phone with him.”
“Great. I’m happy to hear that.”
Sarah wanted to say something but she decided to cut it off, and Cale got a hold to continue the conversation, “Actually we both want to meet you this Friday. It’s been a while since we hang out together.”
“This Friday?” Sarah exclaimed a little, “I don’t think I can make it guys.”
“Please Sarah,” James chimed in, “We promise we will not take too much of your time.”
Sarah breathed out lightly even though she didn’t realized she was holding her breathe.
It’s not like she didn’t want to meet them, but how can she meet them and celebrated her birthday on the same day?
Not to mention, Mark was also on the same list.
This was hard.
“I guess I can make some time for you guys,” She scratched the back of her hair even though it didn’t felt itchy.
It makes she smiled when James excitedly shouted “YAY” with Cale replied, “Text us your home address. We will come and pick you up.”
“Okay,” Sarah replied quietly.
After she hung up the call, Sarah jumped on her bed sighing deeply.
Before she knew it, she fell into a deep sleep, planning her Friday inside her head.
------------------
It was great to meet James and Cale again, but Sarah found it’s hard to enjoy their company.
She secretly glanced to her watch whenever she saw Cale or James was busy with something.
The time was almost up but she still stuck with both of them.
James was only known about it when they stopped at one of the fast food restaurant to get their lunch.
She was lost on her own thought when James spoke to her out of blue, “Our house is near with this mall. We can drop by for a while if you want.”
“Huh?” Sarah blinked her eyes, feeling confused.
A worried line started to cross on James and she noticed it rather fast, “Are you okay? We can take you to the doctor if you’re not feeling well.”
“I’m fine,” Sarah sighed lightly, “What are you asking me just now?”
She was waiting for James to answer, but she was shocked when James turned to Cale instead.
“I think Sarah is not feeling well,” James blurted out, “We should take her to the doctor.”
“What?” Cale was in shocked, quickly looked over to his friend.
And James was right.
Cale nodded quietly, leaving the restaurant with James holding onto Sarah followed behind him closely.
Sarah didn’t even have the chance to explain herself when James opened the door for her before he made his way to the front.
“Guys, I’m okay. I don’t need doctor or anything,” Sarah stated calmly, watching Cale and James from the backseat.
James looked over from his seat, feeling concerned to his friend, “No you’re not. We will take you to the doctor and then we will drive you home so that you can take some rest.”
“I don’t need a doctor, James. Goddamn it. Will you please listen to me?”
“Language, Sarah,” James scolded his friend but there’s no heat in it.
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms around her chest.
There was no use to fight with a stubborn James and she knew it.
------------------
The ride went down with awkward silent.
Sarah was still upset with James. All she wanted was to jump out from the car and went to pick up Mark.
And yet, it’s impossible because Cale already locked the door out.
“Finally,” James blurted out, “We’re here.”
Looking out the window, Sarah felt more confused than she already was.
“This is not a clinic,” Sarah turned toward James with millions of question inside her head.
What is going on here?
And it’s get weirder when neither James nor Cale said any word at all.
She was looking around the place, not realizing the boys already walked up to the building.
“Hey, wait up,” Sarah shouted and ran from behind tried to catch them up.
“Guys,” Sarah worriedly asked while Cale was busy trying to unlock the door, "What is going on here? Where are we?”
“See it for yourself,” James muttered quietly when Cale finally unlocked the door.
When the door finally opened, she was embraced with nothing but a dark room.
Slowly she took a step into the building while James and Cale were waiting behind her.
The boys exchanged their eyes with each other, letting Sarah to go deeper into the dark space.
James smirked grew bigger when Cale nodded his head to him, closing the door behind.
“BAM!”
Sarah jumped out of her skin, finding herself was standing in the dark.
She hates dark and the boys didn’t make it any better.
“Guys” Sarah yelled loudly into the room, her tears were threatening to fall, “This is not funny anymore.”
She took another step into the darkness carefully, her hand was tracing in the air tried to find any switch so she can turned the light on.
“Guys? James? Cale?”
She can’t take it anymore. She can feel her chest started to suffocate.
“SURPRISE!!!”
The room been lighted up again, and this time Sarah can see everyone was staring at her.
There’s Lauren, James, Cale, Kris and other people that she didn’t recognize on the other side of the room.
It was James together with Cale who walked up to her first, “Happy birthday Sarah. Sorry for scaring you. We just want to surprise you.”
“And as you can see, it’s turned out crazy,” Cale giggled, his hand wrapped around James.
It took a moment for Sarah to absorb everything.
And when she saw the confetti flying around the room, she finally back onto her feet.
“Guys,” Sarah slapped on James arms as hard as she can, “You could have just told me about it.”
Though she felt a little relief, she still can’t help but shed some tears.
Forming a small group hug, James and Cale wrapped their arms around her, tried to comfort her again.
“Don’t cry,” Cale soothed some comfort words to his friend, “We have another surprise for you.”
Sarah shook her head tiredly, “Not now Cale. I think this is enough of surprise for me.”
“We are talking about your birthday cake,” James added, “Don’t you want at least blow the candle out?”
They released Sarah from the group hug along with the birthday being serenade softly from the group.
Sarah shed her tears and tried to look up again.
Her jaw was almost dropped when her eyes caught another person presence in that room.
“This can’t be true,” Sarah murmured quietly.
Gazing to Cale, James chuckled lightly. He nudged Sarah little bit, “Go ahead. He’s been waiting for you.”
Her small step turned into a small run as she ran toward the opposite of the room.
Her breathe was caught in the middle when she met his eyes.
Sarah brought her hand up slowly tracing the Mohawk, and it felt real.
She can’t believe this was happening.
“This can’t be true,” She whispered lightly.
The Mohawk guy can’t help but barked out laugh, “Aren’t you happy to see me again?”
Just by hearing his voice, Sarah knew he was there after all.
Not to mention, he’s also holding her cake in his hands.
She threw herself up to him, inhaling deeply his scent that was coming from his jacket, “Oh Mark.”
Another tears escaped from her eyes, and it took some comfort from Mark to calm her nerve.
Holding her close to his chest, Mark brought Sarah to look up to him.
“Are they scared you?” He shot a quick glanced to James and Cale before he sets his eyes to Sarah again.
Sarah nodded quietly, nuzzled her face against his chest again.
Mark smirked grew bigger while his other hand tried to balance down the cake, “Everything is alright now. I’ve got you Sunshine.”
Locking their gaze, Sarah felt curious with this whole thing.
“How?” She carefully asked to Mark, her eyes traced deeply into him tried to find the answer, “You ask me to pick you up at the airport the other day. And now you’re here? I don’t understand.”
Mark gave his best smiled, his hand tenderly cupped her face into him, “It was James idea.”
“What?” Sarah aggravated, instantly shot James with a death glare.
“I’m not finish yet,” Mark chuckled lowly. His hand brought Sarah to look at him again, “James misses you, so does Cale. When he was calling the other day, I know he was excited to celebrate your birthday day. That’s why I cahoots with him.”
“And that’s why I’m here,” Mark pleaded his eyes, “please don’t be mad at him.”
Taking a deep breathe, Sarah closed her eyes and opened it up again.
There’s a small smiled that cracked on her face, “I’m not mad. Not at all. I just wish someone would’ve warned me about it.”
“It wouldn’t be a surprised if you were knew our plan,” Mark chuckled, “Come on, it’s cake time.”
Tugging her hand, he took Sarah to the nearest table.
The guest were formed a small circle, surrounding Sarah. Everyone was anticipating waiting for Sarah to blow the candle.
“Make a wish, Sunshine,” Mark said after he set the cake down.
Sarah closed her eyes and then she lean down to blow the candle.
Big applauded was surround the room when the candle was blew out.
“Sarah,” James chimed in after the applauded started to retreat, “Welcome to our house.”
“What?” Sarah giggled happily, “This is your house? Did you know that you’re scared me before we walk into the building. Cale seems to have some hard time to open the door.”
She added quietly, “For a second I thought we was about to break into a stranger home.”
“There was an accident happen to the door lst week and we haven’t got the time to fix it yet,” Cale winked to James, making James blushed enormously.
Oh he perfectly knew how it happened.
Mark sneaked his arms around Sarah, lean his head down to capture Sarah’s lips.
A soft kiss was planted on that cherry lip.
“Happy 28th birthday, Sarah,” Mark beamed happily to his girl, “I love you Sunshine.”
Sarah smiled brightly, setting her eyes on him, “I love you too Mark.”
Mark tip down and brought them into another kissing fit.
And this time, the catcalls were surrounded them, envying the beautiful couple.
