Cale Mills James Walker A/N : I recommended to listen to the song during the song part, Cale is singing the pink part while James is the purple part.
James hopped up to the stage and ready to do what he best at…. Express his feeling through song.
It’s been few weeks he’s crying his tears out when he broke up with his crush.
It’s time to move on although James didn’t really want to.
Cale literally was the first guy who he had crushed with, the only one who really captured James heart into a box.
There’s no guy in James life managed to do that so far no matter how much James drool over them.
After taking a few non alcoholic drink (he’s need to be sober enough if he wanted to move on in his life), he finally had the courage to step up to the stage to sing.
He whispered his song selection to the piano player and grabbed a stool to sit on it.
His eyes were focusing on the crowd that coming to the club that night.
“Hello guys. I would love to dedicate this song, to someone who meant so much in my life but we both know it’s better if we don’t stay together. That person deserves someone better than me. I hope you will enjoy it.”
With that, James bowed his head down, drowned his feeling to the song when the piano softly interlude the crowd noise which slowly faded in James ears.
I heard that you settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now.
I heard that your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you.
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light.
I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.
He looked up from his mic, eyes focused on every face that currently watching him performed.
James can feel his eyes were well up with tears.
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me, I beg
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead,
Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead,"
Yeah.
James softly swayed through the song, tried to shake off the pain that he felt in his heart every time he saw Cale face in his mind.
You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days
I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me, I beg
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead."
James holds the mic a little bit harder when tears finally rolled down on his cheeks.
He muffled down his sobbed, continued singing his heart out.
It’s a painful route to erase Cale memory from his head and he knew it.
Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
They are memories made.
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
Don't forget me, I beg
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead."
James almost sang the final verse of the song when someone suddenly disturbed his concentration.
A voice that he really familiar with.
He looked up from his mic and just like what he expected, his eyes met with a tense hazel eyes.
He was slowly walking toward the stage, a mic on his hand, singing his song.
James gaped at him with his body rooted there, watching that person slowly strode to him.
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me, I beg
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead,
Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead."
The crowds were cheer in joy when the song finally ends.
James stood up from his stool, eyes never leaving Cale who currently standing in front of him.
“Cale…”
Cale nodded his head and walked toward James, tried to close off their distance.
When he finally stood in front of him, he softly shed James tears with his back hand.
James tried to believe what he saw right now wasn’t a dream.
He can feel the stare that strike into his eyes, the callous finger that touching his face.
Cale cupped James face, ready to lean down to kiss him, but he been stopped with James hand on his lips.
James softly sighed, “I can’t do this anymore Cale. You have to let me go.”
“But I don’t want to. Not when I know you still want me James.”
“You belong to someone else and we both know who that person is.”
Cale frowned,“What if I said I’m not happy with her?”
“It doesn’t matter Cale.”
James turned around, ready to walk off the stage when he suddenly felt his hand been grabbed and his body been turned around to face that person again.
Cale took that moment to capture James lips into his own, his hand wrapped tightly around James waist, pulling James to lean against him.
He broke the kiss and stared intently into James eyes, “Tell me that my kiss didn’t mean anything to you, James.”
James didn’t say any word to him; instead he hugged Cale tightly, hanging on him like he is his only lifeline.
“I hate you,” James chocked his sobbed, wetting Cale shirt with his tears.
Cale wrapped his arms tightly around James body, softly whispered only for James to hear, “I love you too James.”
*the end*
