today i recorded my grandparents reading an extract from "the little prince" for my studio composition. the piece will be exploring the parable of the Baobabs, from the planet's breathing life to eventual explosion. fun fun.
was talking with my grandad about the news and stuff, ended talking about religion.. i said i didn't really know what i believed yet.. he said he knew what he believed.. when we died, we were like trees or plants.. just rot into the ground, there is nothing more. that life is for living, while we're here on earth. there was something really moving hearing that from an elderly man, something profound even. he's 74 (i think.. or 76) and from a generation where the majority still were christian in this country.. while his philosophy is bleak to a lot of people, just the fact that he can say that out-right is very powerful to me.
