I'm bored.

--

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Made a feature-length amateur film. Really didn't think it was going to be that long.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think that I make them, and if I did make one last year it was probably something like resolving to finish my drink or something, anything that I could get out of the way immediately. I hate New Year's.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I don't... think so? It's been a long year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Uncle.

5. What countries did you visit?
None.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Money.

7. What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched your memory, and why?
I remember days in terms of stories, so I never know the actual date that they took place.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
That editorial that got I.D. Weeks more money.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Forgetting what I really wanted.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yeah, I fell on my steps like twice this year. I walked with a cane for a week the first time, and the second one I'm not even going to talk about. I live in fucking South Dakota, shouldn't I have some salt around or something?

11. What was the best thing you bought?
External hard drive. Lots of space for video. Well, there used to be, anyway.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Snuffy's. He kicked ass this year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Gas, most likely. And the movie.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A lot of things that ended in disappointment.

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2006?
"Ibi dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)" by Broken Social Scene, because I used it in the opening credits of Conte and Mightee Return and probably ended up listening to it like six hundred times.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? A little happier, but more anxious.
ii. Thinner or fatter? Fatter.
iii. Richer or poorer? About the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Drinking, I suppose.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas at the Fort, and then it was just my parents and I on Christmas Day, which was weird.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yeah.

23. How many one-night stands?
There wasn't a lot of standing.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Colbert Report

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yeah, which is unfortunate. Thanks for reminding me, though.

26. What was the best book you read?
I didn't read as much this year, but I think I read "Welcome to the Monkey House" this year.

27. What was/were your greatest musical discoveries?
The Kickback and Chris Vondracek.

28. What did you want and get?
A lightsaber.

29. What did you want and not get?
My sister at Christmas at the Fort.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Probably "Superman Returns." Really.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 25 and we played a horrendous and amazing M.D. Device show at Open Mike's. (This year I instituted a new personal rule where on every one of my birthdays I will do one thing that I have no business doing. Like fronting a band, for example.)

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
This question only makes me ask myself a bunch of other questions, so we're going to ignore it.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Poor - I got bigger and all of my cool clothes got smaller.

34. What kept you sane?
Seth Nesselhuf.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Like, fancy fancy? Eva Green.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Gay marriage.

37. Who did you miss?
Becky and Uncle Tony.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Andrew.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
If you are patient, you can do anything.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"When God was young, he made the wind and the sun. And since then, it's been a slow education." - Silver Jews
