Going back to UK tonight. And I'm still working on installing Fedora Core 9 on my (second hand) IBM Thinkpad. I love how it's so sturdy! My previous Fujitsu finally ran out of virtual memory to the point where I couldn't even use the motherboard or open iTunes without all the applications crashing.
But then, installing Fedora is an absolute pain in the ass. But I'm fed up with using windows xp and the constant updates that eventually caused my Lifebook to die on me -_- Fedora was 3.3 GB, and after downloading the iso file, I was meant to mount into on a DVD then boot from there to complete the installation. Instead, none of the DVDs I had (DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD+R) could be detected even though the R60 is SUPPOSED to be a DVD multiburner. WTF???? WTF WTF WTF?? I spent 3 hours downloading a whole 3.3GB size file only to find that it would burn onto a DVD.
The other option is to download the split files of the ISO from Fedora and burn 6 CDs. But since NOBODY IS FUCKING SEEDING so my download rate is like 22kB/s, I've decided to split my 3.3GB file with some freeware instead. It's splitting now, into 650MB size ISO files. I hope it works *fingers crossed* PLEASE PLEASE I'M SO GOING TO DIE FROM FRUSTRATION IF THIS DOESN'T SUCCEED.
God.
