I'm writing this for my own benefit
Mansfield
small - 220 undergrads so everyone knows each other
modernish but not too modern
3rd cheapest rents
really pretty in a non-gothic way
Balliol
Big! 382 undergrads with 38 doing history so biggest history undergrad intake
also old (1263) and so i'm sure it's well endowed
has its own grounds very nice XD
apparently very relaxed, informal and strong political leanings..ie full of hacks
Christ Church - not too sure about this one
its sooooo big. i think i'd get lost in it.
one of the more "rah rah" colleges
accomadation for all years which is wow.
Oriel - meh
someone from my school got in. it's the oldest college...very gothic and pretty.
according to tsr, it's less touristy than the other main, famous colleges.
erm..rowing?
formal hall is SIX NIGHTS A WEEK @@ oh god. that's SIX NIGHTS in a formal gown = =;
for a person who wears sweatshirts and gym pants around the house...that's like a nightmare
Keble - not pronounced cable.
first impression is a red brick building. 1870 so quite modern. the interior is far more gorgeous than what's outside.
close to the bod lib.
reasonable accomadation prices, accomadation guaranteed for first two years. 24 hr lib awesome XD (i procrastinate till 3am haha)
not too sure about the formals
Pembroke
relaxed. 14xx architecture is nice.
friendly but apparently state intake is more like 50:50
small but there are 340 undergrads in 2007?
Catz
no formals!! XD
also a sporty college but oh god it's such a modern college. it looks like i've stepped in the TATE for christssake. I'll think about this one.
it's got the most ugs, with 437 in 2007
St Hughes
seems quite cool. 1886 so quite new hence nice accom. accomadation for four years.
one formal dinner once a week and meals appear cheap.
not as pretty as other colleges but looks better than Catz.
no tourists, more secluded.
i have no thoughts on this one.
Wadham
known for student radicalism
known to be liberal and relaxed. high % of state school students with 427 ugs.
uni,
