I don't fill the sink up all the way- just a little more than necessary, then drain it while running the tap. They have something to splash in for about five seconds before shampoo time.
To mine, anything that gets close to an inch is way too much. But then again, they get the bathtub, not the sink. Three is too many for a sink, especially with how big they're getting. XD
I don't wash all of them at once, because I've got alot of rats. Whenever someone starts to look a little worse for wear, I pop them out, hose them down, then towel-dry them until they stop looking like bedraggled pieces of string.

Oh, well. They'd get dry skin without an occasional rinse.
