First, why are you getting defensive? Second, you've seen me down once, when Brandy and I didn't work out. Third, my life hasn't been especially rosey. The difference is, when things aren't going my way, I don't let it destroy me. Fourth, I'm not talking about fits of being upset over something. I'm talking about the whole "My life is over." song and dance that some people put out there. Finally, back to the defensive thing, if you are depressed, and I didn't know that you were, that sucks, but no need to get all attitudinal with me for asking a question, bud.
i took his orignal post to be not bashing people who are depressed, but not understanding why certain people pull out all the stops on their "God my life sucks! Pay attention to how sucky it is! LOOK ITS STILL SUCKY!"parades.
everyone gets depressed, and everyone knows this because everyone has been facing a sucky situation/life at some point...but not everyone milks the piss out of every bad situation over and over again.
And I can understand that...but I know James...he can be bitchy for no real reason...lol
But seriously, I understand what he's trying to say, I just think that friends should have some sense of understanding when it comes to this. I have depressed friends...sometimes they just need to get everything out.
I agree. Everyone has the right to get out what's ailing them. I just don't know if being in a constant state of depression is the correct avenue to take. Or perhaps they're not depressed and they're just over-exaggerating their feelings. Perhaps they're upset about something, and they just instantly apply the "I'm depressed." notion to it, when really they're just upset for the moment.
Well if it's clinical, I can understand meds, but I think too many people get shoved onto medications when they may not need them. But hey, that's just me.
or too many people see meds as an easy way out instead of making attempts to fix what is wrong with them by themselves. I don't like the "well, i'm upset about my life and i could make attempts to change my life and there is a possibillity that doing that would make me happy...but i'll take a magic pill instead!" mentality.
It's the same as people who want to lose weight just taking a diet pill. There aren't miracle cures for anything. Like anything in life, you have to bust your ass to get what you want.
I just posted something saying how much I acknowledge how much better my life is than some people's. That being said, my life sucks. I lost a job, a boyfriend, and my only chance at a baby this year. I took a $12,000 pay cut, and I can't keep my household solvent. Things are hard. I'm not whining, I am stating a fact. I feel I have every right in the world to be depressed, and the fact that I have happy moments at all are the miracle to me right now, much less that many days I sing along with the radio. There are some lives in which depression is just the sensible feeling to have.
I didn't really think you were hating on anyone, BTW.
Well I certainly wasn't. I will say, however, that I understand being down about a series of unfortunate events, but don't let it be the ruling emotion of your life. Everyone's got shitty stuff. I wish I wasn't going bald and wish I could find a girl to live my life with, but I'm resigned to the fact that neither one may be remedied. Not gonna let it beat me down, though!

And I don't really see a problem with that.

And I will agree that people will milk it or exagerate stuff...I guess tahts just how some people are.
If everyone could be happy, that'd be great...but some people just don't know how to bring that about...me included.
