IC:

Character name: Miles Edgeworth
Fandom: Ace Attorney
Timeline: End of Ace Attorney Investigations
Age: 26

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: (this might just sound silly) Edgeworth is a very normal person living in a very normal world. However, in this normal world exists abnormalities in ways of thinking. Edgeworth's Logic is unlike any other kind of logic!

In Ace Attorney Investigations, one of the ways Edgeworth solves the case is through logic. He gathers two pieces of information and forms a conclusion out of two ideas he combined in his head. Kay Faraday calls this a "*schwing*"-ing action. He screamed EUREKA! when he puts the right two and two together. Pieces of information which are added to his Logic headspace are always in a bright green kind of colour.

How would they use their abilities?: Well, the whole logic thing is mainly for putting pieces of puzzles together! Mostly for information gathering/deduction instances. Not unless you want the beauty pageant kind of answer. For good!

Appearance: Edgeworth's way of presenting himself is incredibly fashionable. Edgeworth has the best fashion sense in the series. He wears a reddish/pink (depends on which art you are looking at) suit, a vest and a white polo shirt inside all that. He likes wearing a lot of layers. He should also have his Prosecutor's badge pinned onto his suit or something, but his mentor told him that it is more fashionable to have it in your pocket at all times. He also carries around an organizer which he uses for his information tidbits and records.

Background/Personality: [Wwwww short background is short and heavily summarized.]

When Edgeworth was a little boy, he dreamed of being a defense attorney like his old man. He was someone who lived with the creed "innocent until proven guilty", and he will prove someone who is innocent from the oppressors. He was someone brave and ready to face anything, someone who would seek the truth no matter the circumstances and someone who will defend the helpless. That was what he was, and what he wanted to become. When he was in elementary, one of his classmates was put to trial and everyone was against him and was blaming him for stealing some money. Even the teacher was against him and everything was just so... well, unjust. Edgeworth, who was the one that got stolen from, managed to rise up against all the bad things being said regarding his classmate and proved him innocent. He was so totally meant for being a defense attorney.

One day after a trial, however, Edgeworth, his father and a bailiff were on their way down the elevator when there was suddenly an earthquake. The elevator stopped, and the power was out for a few minutes. He woke up to an unconscious bailiff and his father dead. After this traumatizing incident, he was taken in by a very famous prosecutor named Manfred von Karma. His world became upside down then.

From his whole idea of defending the helpless, he became merciless and he became someone who strived for perfection. Living with the von Karmas, he was taught how to live a perfect life and was trained to become a prosecutor. And as such, being trained by Manfred von Karma himself, Edgeworth grew up to be someone very ruthless in court and even outside of court. He would win every trial no matter the means, as a von Karma would. Of course, he had his share of presenting illegal evidence (possibly even forced). Those weren't publicized though, and through these means, Edgeworth lost not a trial and was then called the Demon Prosecutor.

One fateful day, Edgeworth was assigned in a trial and had to face Phoenix Wright, a new defense attorney. He did not even say anything about their friendship (even though how little it may be) and considered him as an adversary and just that. He had thought that he was all that, and believed that he would win the trial, but at the end of the day, he got his first ever loss. This dealt a great amount of damage to Edgeworth, of course! Case after case he fought against Wright, he lost. Still, he did not budge and remained as poker faced as ever.

Nobody really expected it though, but Edgeworth was put to trial against the state a few months after his record got tarnished. He was convinced that he was the one who committed the murder, or he was convinced that he didn't need any help from anyone, ever. Wright approached him many times about the case and was willing to help, but he always gave him the cold shoulder. Still, Wright defended him in court and was proven to be innocent after a long and very tedious trial. His mentor was then convicted for murder of his father and another man. Another life changing experience for Edgeworth! He had then realized that what he was believing in was all a farce. He didn't kill his father, and he didn't kill Robert Hammond. Perfection wasn't the answer to everything, and as a prosecutor-- as someone who upholds the law, he had to use the law for good and not for himself.

After that life changing case, Edgeworth left the United States and just basically just "disappeared". Nobody heard of him and he was taking a break from all the scandals that started up because of that one trial. He had gone back to the United States though a year after a long hard time of contemplation. He states that he does not want to go up to court again, but eventually had to do his job as a prosecutor to replace Franziska as she was shot in the shoulder. The Edgeworth that Wright goes up against in this trial isn't the same Edgeworth as before though. He wasn't in the trial to defend himself, his reputation and his dignity. He was doing it to dig up the truth. Thus, the trial seemed like a two-against-one sort of battle of wits, with Wright and Edgeworth on the same side (and buying time while Detective Gumshoe and Franziska dig up more clues regarding the case) against Matt Engarde, the defendant who they knew was guilty. The only thing they lacked was evidence.

A year after Edgeworth made his comeback, he comes back... again to assist Wright. He was contacted by Larry (one of his childhood friends whom he denies he knows every single time), saying that Wright's life was in danger. Since Edgeworth was in another country, he had to hurry up and get a jet to be able to arrive on time to help Wright. Too bad Larry just exaggerated though. Wright was just hospitalized because of a fever and can't show up in court because of it. Wright asks Edgeworth for help and present himself as a defense attorney to take his place. Wright handed Edgeworth the Magatama which he borrowed from Maya, and his DA badge.

Luckily for Edgeworth, the judge was not the usual judge presiding the trials he worked with. The judge was the judge during his first ever trial, but it seemed that the judge hardly remembers him. Thankfully, he didn't have to be the defense attorney the entire case through, and Wright got well before the end. And it seemed like everytime Wright and he meet, his life changes. Being the defense attorney in a trial was something incredibly different for Edgeworth. He had to do investigations on his own, and his movements were incredibly restricted. He learned what it was like to be a defense attorney, and learned experienced more about life, experienced more about the truth and justice.

Just because Edgeworth's life has been changed by Wright doesn't necessarily mean that he's changed everything about him, though! Edgeworth has been, and will forever have a stick up his ass. He is first and foremost, a lawyer. Having a profession related to bluffing and seeking holes in witnesses' statements to find the truth, Edgeworth has learned the talent of having a poker face. Of course, he will occasionally have his cocky moments, and when I mean occasionally, I mean all the time. Never has Edgeworth put himself down in front of anybody (but Wright, I guess...) and he has no plans of doing so. He is a very "serious business" man, and hardly ever condones anything that's funny or anything that's amusing. Deep, deep, deep down in his cravat covered heart though, is an Edgeworth that knows sympathy and empathy. He will never ever show this side to anyone though, and will put up his facade once again if he slips even for just a second. He doesn't even likes smiling! What a party pooper!

The only change Edgeworth shows and is very apparent is how he views his job as a prosecutor. Prosecutors aren't meant to take advantage of the law, they are meant to protect it, uphold it and make sure those who do take advantage of it get the punishment that they receive, outside the courtroom or within its walls. That was what Edgeworth's mindset was like, and that's how he did his job after those three years of battling Wright in court and helping him out. He would not rest until he's inspected every nook and cranny and will not rest until he gets the truth.

Another year later, Edgeworth gets bombarded with so much work for four days straight. While on a plane trip back to the United States (AGAIN), he passed out due to the plane being shaken from turbulence and woke up to a murder scene. He was being accused of the flight attendant and word got to the rest of the passengers since he was tied to his seat until the trip was over. He was determined to assert himself and become the innocent, and managed to prove himself innocent with the help of the flight attendant (who had first thought it was him who was the murderer) Rhoda, Detective Gumshoe and Franziska (who was working on a case at that time - chasing an organization which was under the radar).

Edgeworth received a call that night from a person who helped him when he was just starting his prosecuting career, Mr. Amano. He had to take care of giving the ransom money to the people who kidnapped Amano's son, but ended up being kidnapped too! It is in this case where the Blue Badger continues to creep the fuck out of everyone by showing the masses its family tree and the ever horrible Proto Badger (he will give you nightmares). A young lady manages to "rescue" him and get away from where he was kidnapped. This young lady happens to be Kay Faraday, the daughter of the prosecutor who was murdered in a case many, many years ago, back when Edgeworth was just starting out. He also met Agent Shi-Long Lang (and assistant Shih-na) who was working as an international agent and was on the job. Needless to say, they didn't start off well because of Lang's hatred of prosecutors which consistently bothered Edgeworth for three long days. As per usual, a murder occurred, they had to find the perpetrator and convict him or her, and they did! It was apparently Mr. Amano's son, Lance (together with some accomplices). Though, Mr. Amano was also convicted for denying Edgeworth, Lang, etc. rights to the scene(s) of the crime and was put into questioning for some other matters (which was apparently related to the organization both Lang and Franziska were after).

The day after that incident, he arrived to his office which ended up as a site for murder. And, well, basically, all of the events were just a game of cat and mouse. A murder occurs, Edgeworthjust happens to be around, he finds loopholes and uses logic, he gives the murderer the justice he or she deserves! This continued until the last day of those four interrelated cases. He found the leader of the organization Franziska and Lang were chasing after. He helped Kay find the truth regarding her father's case and put some really bad people behind bars. He somehow (sort of...) helped two countries unite. He-- well, he did many things. He accomplished a lot of things within those four long days, and he realized even more things about the law, too. People hide very well, and people hide their crimes very well. No matter how close you are to the law, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are protecting it. You could just be abusing it and using it for your own purpose. And those four days? Those days of chasing the leader of an organization was just a tiny chapter in Edgeworth's life and in his search for justice. There were more criminals too apprehend, and he wasn't stopping there.

Why should that character be in this game: n/a.
Why do you want to continue their history here: n/a.

Have you read up on how the game works?: Flaming Ferret! And you can earn money through missions, stealing (which... Edgeworth would never do oh god) and accepting freelance jobs and stuff like that.

1st person sample:

[The guide is clicked open, and there is a very serious looking Edgeworth looking down at the screen, typing some words. It doesn't seem like he knows that he pressed the wrong option yet.]

(I must admit, managing to get this device working was more difficult than I thought. Hn, where is the Detective when he actually has worth?)

[He winces as he notices that the screen was not reflecting the words he was typing and stops the video transmission. He clicks the Guide again.]

... I apologize for that. I may need some time to adjust to this... thing.

In any case, I suppose an introduction is proper. My name is Miles Edgeworth, and I am currently in the same situation as each and everyone of you. I am currently looking for a subordinate. He is a tall and scruffy looking detective who wears tattered clothing which seems like something that he has been wearing for more than fifteen years. His name is Detective... Gumshoe. He always has a confused look on his face, so he can easily be spotted.

Any other forms of assistance (information, and the like) is also appreciated. Thank you very much.

3rd person sample:

After an hour of reading paperwork, Miles Edgeworth decided to take a short break. He made himself some tea, chamomile. It was something that soothed him a lot-- tea. He felt relaxed and it was something that he hadn't felt for a while. Not with all the things that have just occurred. The arrest of Quercus Alba, the head of the smuggling ring, the trial of Quercus Alba in the United States. A chapter of his life as a prosecutor had just ended. Of course, he knew he would be facing other adversaries that could be just as difficult to catch. He had his weapon though-- the truth.

He sighed as he put down his teacup and went back to work. He leafed through the case again and again. It was only when Detective Gumshoe had entered his office that he had to stop reading.

"What is it now, detective?" Edgeworth dryly said. He was never really excited about anything that Gumshoe had for him. It was either bad news, terrible news, or horrible news. He would occasionally receive something useful, but that happens once in a blue moon. What Gumshoe had brought was a boquet of flowers, not news, not relevant pieces of information. Flowers.

Edgeworth cringed, although the room did need a bit more colour! He asked Gumshoe to place the flowers in a vase.

When he was alone, he looked at the flowers, internally panicking, cursing, and just being very, very disjointed.

"That old woman really needs to stop sending me all these things! I am not returning her "happiness" just because she sent me these Lilies of the Valley!"

And he went back to work, although this time, quite distracted.

Questions?: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Pretty sure I did! Though I fail so I might have not ;w;
