dearest maura lynch, you can get into any school you wanted to, so you can eliminate those requirements out. but honestly you really do have to limit yourself, well not limit, but make decisions. personally, you should do what i'm going to do. go to a college book, pick 5 random colleges, read in detail about them (borrow the insider's guide to colleges. sooooooo helpful, actually i'm reading it right now), and then decide what you like or what you didn't like about them. if it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter, that's not going to be a factor in your choice. do you want homecooked meals regularly or can you live without? can you deal with a bunch of drunks every weekend in your dorm or would you rather live with some intelectuals? what kind of college life do you like: a busy, activity filled one where you don't want to go home on the weekends (if you can) or one where everyone goes out to the city on the weekends and there isn't a soul on campus? these are the questions you need to ask yourself. personally, i prefer a school where i can dorm only if i want to (i <3 my mommy's cooking and my own bed), small-medium size (i don't like the feeling of not knowing someone when they;ve always been there), small class sizes (what can i say, i like attention), active campus life (girls gotta have something to do other than hw), in driving range of a city (party party anyone? kidding. something to explore on long weekends), and low on the frats and sororities (no drunks throwing up on me, please). i only know because it's what i get for having a mom who works in the school system and wants you to pick a major at the age of 5 or so. *sigh* but this is a really long letter and maybe i should become a guidance counselor. right... but i hope you got my point and don't think i'm a HUGE freak. i'm sure you'll be happy wherever you go. <3 <3 good luck!
