I've been forcing myself over the past few months to consider a more permanent vocation for myself. I approached epiphany when I got my tax refund a month ago and decided to buy a telescope. See, I've always had a dream (at times, because of the pressures of life, almost forgotten) of being an astronomer, even possibly working directly for
SETI. I think that thought first struck me when I saw the Aricebo Observatory (below) on Reading Rainbow when I was a kid.
Unfortunately after some unforeseen car maintenance, actual fruition was a bit delayed. So as I get ready to prepare for my third attempt at school, partially because I haven't struck the artistic credibility yet for graphic design, I think about what I spent my time outside of classes interested in (besides the internet). I've really enjoy reading Stephen Hawking, and watching the fascinating
Neil deGrasse Tyson, or Carl Sagan. Well, I know my math and theorizing skills are grand; why not be an astrophysicist, maybe even at someplace like
CERN!
Shut up, you know I can do it.
All these options are now open. Oh I 'll still get the
telescope, and it all sounds hard as hell, but I think if I'm going to do something, I want to produce something from it. I want to be able to figure out how you can get from
here to
here -or even
here!- and make it feasible for you and me.
