*shakes off dust*
Wow, it's been a while. So life? Kinda crazy at times. Job. Always interesting. If anyone ever told me I would be working at a Casino dealing cards to earn a crust, I would've thought they were nuts. Alas, I find myself working the night shift on the Gaming floor at Crown. As far as jobs go, it's never dull. Slow some nights, but certainly not boring. Weekends, while busy, provide the most entertainment. Girls (I'm not sure you could call them ladies) in horrifically short dresses and ridiculously high heels, stumbling around the floor carrying oversized cocktails. Or slumped on any number of couches around the the place, straws between their lips as they suck up the last of the liquid from their icy drinks. The males of the species are just as interesting. All macho trying to prove how great they are at gambling, when most of them have no idea. Casino War is the worst for this. Allow me to demonstrate: Man drops $100 chip on the table. He will either lose in one go, or end up having to go to war. Electing to go to war (to show how awesome he is to his friends and the gathered crowd), and oh look, the dealer wins. $200 for me, a deflated ego for the man who is hastily searching his wallet for more cash. Press repeat, and this mostly describes a night on Casino War. People trying to win big on a game that really isn't designed for it. A dealers worst nightmare on the weekend (or at least mine, I can't speak for others).
Up side though, I finally have a job where I can accrue Annual leave. In the past I've only worked casual jobs, so any time off is cash out of my pocket. Now, I've got two short breaks booked using the bank of Annual leave I've acquired working way too many hours, and I'm looking forward to some time spent relaxing on the Gold Coast with Jo in August and by the pool in Fiji in October for Penny's wedding.
And I've just bought a new car. Named Tate (T8) after the engineers behind my favourite V8 team (Triple Eight engineering). It's still early days, but I'm in love. I've never had a brand new car before, so this is a totally new experience. So is having a huge loan to pay for it. But I work my butt off, so I'm confident I can get it paid off in the next few years.
So I guess that's life. Or what I have of one. Work, sleep, work, sleep and occasionally, like today, a chance to sit back and get back to the things I love. Writing.
life,
work
