Currently, I'm reading a biography on surrealist fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. She and Salvadore Dali worked together on many projects, and the book I'm reading has many images of Dali's paintings. So, absentmindedly, as I'm looking at one, I say, "I'd love to own a painting by Dali." Nidha says "Ok, I'll get you one," and I laugh it off.
She just gave me a painting.
Signed by "Dolly."
It's of a cartoon dog.
I now have an original Dolly painting.
Pictures of some of Schiaperelli's designs:
Her "shoe hat"
The lobster dress inspired by Dali's infamous lobster telephone. He wanted to spread mayonnaise on it, but she refused...understandably.
Torn flesh dress inspired by Necrophiliac Spring.
