This weekend was pretty eventful. My mom and I took part in the block rummage sale. I ended up making like $100 from my crap.

We sure picked the worst weekend to have a rummage though. It was SO hot out. On Friday, I was outside from 7AM-2:30 and then I had to work 3-close.

Saturday, I couldn't bring myself to move. I helped set up the rummage, but then I came back inside and slept until noon. I couldn't wake up or focus on anything. I think i was fatigued from the heat from the day before. It was nasty.

So on Sunday, I took Chad down to IL to celebrate his birthday. My gift to him was to take him to the Chicago Warped Tour. I've been pretty nervous about the whole trip since he agreed to go, but it worked out just fine. I had bought our tickets online and found directions to the amphitheatre, which was actually like 25 miles south of Chicago, and on Sunday morning, we were off.

I picked him up just before 10 and headed down south. We stopped in Gurnee to get some food and we saw the ever so popular Steak N Shake. We figured we had to see what everyone was so in love with about this place so we went in and ordered some food to go. Chad got a burger and I got some chicken. The food was all right... but expensive. We determined that it was NOT as great as everyone always made it seem. Downgrade.

So we were on the freeway and of course there had to be like 94437341 tollways. Laaame. We accidentally bypassed one of them like we had an I-pass or something. I'll probably get a ticket mailed to me. Eh...

So when we finally found the ampitheatre, around 12:30, I got some money out to pay for parking, but I was happy to find out that parking was FREE. YESS!! So we parked and got our stuff together and went inside.

On the way to the front gate, I realized that the $30 that I had in my pocket was gone... I had it in my lap when I thought I had to pay for parking. I probably had it on my lap when I got out of the car and the money was either in my car or outside the car, blown into the parking lot. Oh shit. I debated going back to find it, but we could hear Hellogoodbye's set and I didn't want to go back. I had more money in my wallet, but I still hoped that my missing money was actually in my car. Eh...

So we went to watch the rest of Hellogoodbye's set. They did a blink 182 cover of What's my Age Again, which was pretty cool.

After that, we went to go see the line up for all the other bands we wanted to see and scope out the rest of the grounds. It turned out that they didn't have the two main stages next to each other, which I thought was horrible... But we lucked out because most of who we wanted to see were all on one stage.

And as we walked around, we found that there was really no where for the public to just SIT down and chill. Staying hydrated was hard because there were a few select places to get water from, AND they wouldn't let us keep a bottle cap for anything. We never found out WHY the bottlecaps were kept from us, but my theory is that its just easier to clean up the grounds afterwards...

The only place to really sit and relax was in the amphitheatre. But they put up two of the side stages in there, which was pretty neat, unless you had a headache and just wanted to sit and relax for a minute.

We had about a 2 hour gap between bands we wanted to see, so we sat in the amphitheatre and people watched/napped, even with the scary screaming bands on stage.

We ended up seeing Hellogoodbye, Senses Fail, The Living End, Less Than Jake, Motion City Soundtrack, The Academy Is, Antiflag, Armor for Sleep, and Billy Talent. We also walked around and heard various other bands but those were the ones we made sure we went to see. We missed The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, which sucked cause they didn't go to Milwaukee and we really did want to see them, but they played at 11:15AM. wtf!

Motion was awesome. They played a couple songs that we didn't hear in Milwaukee... and they had like 60 crowd surfers. My videos are actually sort of funny in the way that at any given time, you can see at least 3-5 crowd surfers.

The Academy Is did a breakdown again during Black Mamba to sing Crazy by Gnarles Barkley. But they one upped us this time cause they had the singer from Gym Class Heroes come out and sing the verse. It was pretty cool.

The big band to see was Billy Talent, because they didn't even come to Milwaukee. Chad needed me to get video of most of the set, and I tried, but stupid high school pits kept breaking out in front of us. One guy's head actually hit my camera and sort of broke it. I ended up fixing it, but I was scared my camera's life was over... :(

So we left after that set and headed back home around 8ish. We stopped in Gurnee again for some Taco Bell and made it home around 10ish. We went back to my house to pick up my USB cord, and as I was emptying my pockets, I found the $30 that I thought I lost. How awesome! Then we went to Chad's to put the videos from the day on his laptop and I went home and fell asleep pretty much right away.

It was a good time. My first mini road trip where I drove was successfull. :D
