The rules:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions (or just reply in my LJ).

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Now, my answers to Tara's interview questions:

1. You are given the chance to return to any previous point in your life and change a decision you made, but you will lose everything that's happened to you since then. Is there a time that you'd return to? If so, would you like to retain the memory of the life you are giving up even though you could never recapture it?

I would have to say that, despite the temptation, I could not do that. Despite all the hardships... I don't want to give up who I am and what I have now. But if I were to return to a past time, I would not want to keep the memory of the life I gave up... because grass always does look greener on the other side.

2. If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, who would you question and what would you ask?

I would ask my dad why he couldn't stay...
I would ask several members of my family what the real story is about... well, it's a long story actually, but basically having to do with missing puzzle pieces of my childhood that don't fit together, mostly regarding my mom.
I would ask my dad's side of the family to tell their true, honest side of a story that is hinted at but never explained.

3. If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one ability or quality, what would it be?

The ability to let go of the past... and maybe the ability to forget a little bit.

4. If you could choose the sex and physical appearance of your soon-to-be-born child, would you do it? Why or why not?

I don't care about the physical appearance, but I would like to pick the sex. In reality I doubt I'd be able to actually do it, but hypothetically I would choose a son. If/when I have kids, I want a son... I think I would be closer to him and better able to relate to him. I think there is some truth to the whole Daddy's Girl/Mommy's Boy phenomenon.

5. Tell me about your earliest memory.

I remember when I was two years old, arriving at my uncle's house in North Carolina with my dad, and waking up the next morning on an inflatable mattress in my cousin Craig's room, who was an infant at the time. I remember going out to the kitchen, and I remember the walls being yellow, but it turns out they were white but they had gold appliances and the sun reflection must've made me remember them as yellow.
