if the quote is not a metaphor, and a thinly-veiled one at that, then what good is it?

"We are not isolationists except insofar as we seek to isolate ourselves completely from war. Yet we must remember that so long as war exists on earth there will be some danger that even the nation which most ardently desires peace may be drawn into war."

FDR: Chautauqua, New York, 1936

i intend to stay as switzerland as i possibly can.

amidst wild accusations, involvement of people very dear to me, threats and misunderstandings, i hold the claim (a not entirely unreasonable one) that i alone am responsible for my own thoughts and actions, and always will be.

i have a decent job, a home, a cat, medical bills and a wonderful mother to take care of.
i have the best friends a woman could ask for.
responsibility and maturity ripen with age and experience, and priority is often (hopefully) dictated similarly.
i made a choice which i do not regret.
what you make of your life, despite everything that is handed to you, is your choice.
