Since this is a friending meme about activity, how often do you post/comment?
I post between three and six times a week, so around every other day. I comment on 80% of posts, normally when I have something to actually add or a sentiment to express.
I feel like it takes everyone forever to name all of the things they enjoy in movies, television, and music. Let's limit this to the five things/fandoms you care most about right this second, or that you've recently squeed over, or what you'd like to meet more fans of!
I'm not really a ~fandom~ type of person, but there are things I like. These aren't necessarily my favorite things in the entire world, but they're the sort of cultural interests that people on the internet also get super into.
1. Game of Thrones 2. Arrested Development 3. Community 4. Parks and Rec 5. Harry Potter
What are your interests and/or what are you most passionate about? (If it's easier you can limit it to five things.)
1. Current events of all kinds (I'm pretty liberal). Politics, stupid trend pieces, personal essays that make the rounds on the internet. 2. Books (I work in publishing, so I'm reading constantly). 3. Generally, the whole umbrella of art, including fiction, movies, music, visual art, installations, performance art, etc. etc. 4. Humans (spending time with them) and how they think. 5. *~*~*~*Livin' my life, which includes career concerns, the fun adventures of being young and vaguely careless, and new experiences.
Are these the things you post most about? If no, what do you post about? What does LiveJournal mean to you?
I mostly talk about my daily happenings (mostly just parties and cultural events), thoughts on what I'm reading or watching, pictures/summaries of my occasional travels, and my feelings (which are usually either cheerful or belligerent). I struggle a lot with the gulf between who I am and who I would like to be one day. I also post a lot of Instagrams.
Who would you like to meet through this meme?
What a weird place for a numbered list. Basically just people who have interesting lives/interesting thoughts. People who are smart and funny and self-aware are my favorites.
I answered the numbered list for the "who would you like to meet" question, and now I wish I'd just copied your answer, because it's perfect.
You sound interesting and the type of person I'd love to get to know more. My post is a bit below - if you think the same of me, would you like to be friends?
Haha, I'm glad you felt this way about the numbered "who would you like to meet." It's definitely a good question, but I basically only had one answer.
Definitely adding you! I feel like the GIFs we chose for the last question are spirit-friends.
I like all of the fandomy things you mentioned, and I respect that you're not a "fandomy" person. I guess technically I'm not either, but I do talk about fiction enough that I fit the mold. I'm just not into the fanfiction part so much.
I would love to be friends with you! You sound SO great--I'm envious of people who work in psych and mental health because it's my ~road not taken~ (sorry I've already creeped on your journal a little).
I talk about things I like A LOT, but I never identify strongly as, like, a part of fandom. It seems like it requires so much commitment! But I'll probably get all up in your grill if you post about stuff I'm also reading or watching.
Haha, that's more than okay! I'm happy about your positive response to me, lol. And, yes, I'm happy to have everyone up in my grill, especially in over-excited discussion ways! :D
YES, I totally do want to be friends. I was INTENSELY into the new Gatsby movie the week it came out and got really unnecessarily aggressive about defending it against people who weren't into it. It was so good!
OMG YES. I have seen the movie twice and I need to see it again. That film is like crack. And it was so loyal to the book and everything onscreen was exactly how I'd envisioned it (except for the whole secret barbershop-club thing, that was different, and seeing Jordan tower over Nick).
Tom Buchanan looked exactly like Tom Buchanan. o_o
And holy $%#%$ Carey Mulligan, the PERFECT Daisy. She had the voice, and those sweet, sad eyes of hers make me think of the original cover of the novel.
I know! It was great. It's funny because I'd never really thought of Jordan as looking SO flappery. In my head (when I read the books), her tennis player style was way more prominent than her 20's style. But she was so great in the movie.
Carey Mulligan's portrayal of Daisy actually made me like the character more than I did in the books. She's very talented.
