Luminary prompt from The Flame

You know how everyone else’s parents are made of flesh and blood and act like over-protective guard dogs at times? I wish mine were like that. I’m supposed to be the party-hard teenager in this family. Not them. They are old. Do they understand this at all? Nope.

Take last week for example - it was a Monday, I had school the next morning and three extended essays due in. I did try to finish them - I swear I did - but then my friend, Clarice, called about this super-awesome secret party that was happening that night and she said I just HAD to go.

You remember Clarice, right? I’ve mentioned her before - super slim, blond, big breasted, coke whore and lover of something else beginning with ‘C’.

Well, you just can’t say no when Clarice tells you to go to a party with her. So I made my bed so that it looked like I was still in it, climbed out of my bedroom window and snuck out to this party.

It was MAD. I so have to tell Clarice that her definition of secret is wrong. Everyone was there - and I mean everyone. There were college kids, other high schoolers like us and even some celebrities fresh out of rehab. That’s what you get when you live in a town like this. I hadn’t even got two feet in the door before someone handed me some magic pills and a glass of some awesome blue liquid. By the time I made my way across the room I was tipsy and it was shaping up to be a great party. Until I saw who was dancing on the bar, half naked and off her face. My mother. And who was adoringly trying to look up her skirt? My father.

At a party that was supposed to be secret. A party I had abandoned homework and snuck out for. Urgh!

Did they shout at me for going out to party when I should have been at home like a good little girl? Of course not - daddy dearest told me to ‘rock on’ and started making out with my mother… while I was right in front of them. Ew!

Rock stars are such pains. Especially when they are your parents.
