Who Can Save Us Now?

No, it's not a plea to the politicians, but a title of a new anthology co-edited by Owen King about superheroes.

I attended the reading last night at Newtonville Books.  Owen King, Kelly Braffet, and David Yoo, all read from their stories in the anthology, and signed copies afterwards.  There's also a story in there by Graham Joyce, so I was going to have to buy it at some point.  The reading room at Newtonville Books is very cool -- and comes with free beer and wine for the audience members.   King's story features meerkats -- those ferocious, yet cuddly stars of "Meerkat Manor", a watching habit I can say I have in common with Owen.  Kelly's book "Josie and Jack" was recommended by a friend, so that will likely be my next read; David authored "Girls for Breakfast", and I'll have to read it based on the title/cover alone.  I did ask the only question, and managed to plug snurri 's "Superpowers" while I was at it.

I love readings; I really need to go to more of them.
