- thank you to everyone who commented on the last entry! i was really feeling down at that point, but the day felt so good; people complimented me, i had the best essay out of the whole class in chinese (!), we listened to 80's music in econ (THRILLER) and played musical chairs (but not really!), my world studies teacher was so uplifting and told me that i could be amazing if i try. also in WS, out of the 90-minute block, we had 40 minutes of just talking! we only have 10 people in our class, haha. it's really close-knit and tight, and i love that class.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF SOPHIE LI
i really do believe that i am a boring person! my life goes like this: get up, stay in bed for a few minutes because it's really really cold and i've got the electric blanket thingy, go to the bathroom, brush my hair, go back into my room, change out of pajamas, brush my teeth, trudge down the stairs, eat breakfast which 99.9% of the time consists of a chocolate chip cookie and sometimes skim milk, go back upstairs, put books in my bag, wait for the carpool buddy, get to school, unload things into my locker, wait around for usually 10 minutes, go to first block (biology which is one of my favourite classes ever omg or econ where i love our teacher but i hate the class), yawn excessively, hang around for another 10 minutes after first block because we've got a 10 minute passing time in between first and second block, go to second block, usually get angry because on B days it's my retarded class (a.k.a. chinese; i have world lit on A days), go to third block (speech or world studies! my two favourites omg), eat lunch, go to fourth block (art or math >:|), hang around for a while, go home, take a two-hour nap, get up feeling angry and groggy, check livejournal/facebook/twitter i know right, maybe pull out my homework, do none of it, eat dinner, do more bits of homework, get distracted by LJ and other various sources of distraction, sometimes run on the treadmill for thirty minutes, take a shower, do more homework, sleep. :)
on saturdays it's more like this: get up, eat breakfast, check LJ, go to chinese school, drift off into space, come home, check LJ/FB/twitter, do nothing for a while, procrastinate the whole day, etc.
ASTROLOGY
sometimes i still do not know the difference between astrology and astronomy haha. but i believe in astrology! i think it's fascinating, actually, how my horoscope of the day always needs to be correct. i'm a little like this and this lot; i'm a little unpredictable and sometimes i get so jealous i just want to sit down and cry about my life sodifmsdf. i'm a really big procrastinator! i have mood swings larger and scarier than a pregnant woman!

bawling, i love this country. because of thu. actually, that's not true because one time, before i even met her, in world studies in seventh grade i think, we watched a video on australia and it talked about queensland and victoria and brisbane and melbourne and i was like I WANT TO GO THERE ONE DAY and then what do you know! it's like a twist of fate. is a pedophile!! i know it, he knows it, you know it, we all know it! i love his-wait, you saw this coming-eyebrows. i mean seriously, i've ranted about this so many times already but HOW CAN YOUR EYEBROWS BE SO PERFECT. i bet he plucks them. like chicken feathers out of a chicken! it's like he looks into a mirror and is like "OH MY GOD A STRAY EYEBROW HAIR THING" and then he grabs the nearest eyebrow plucker thing (!!) and goes like "MY GOD, YOU HEATHEN, BE GONE" and then with great distress found in damsels in plays that even ryohei cannot manage to portray correctly, he'd pluck his eyebrow with one raging scoop and then fling it out... onto the ground of something. i also think he bleaches his hair and secretly, his actual hair colour is brown. because have you seen his eyebrows. they are brown! and maybe it's just trying to be realistic because i don't know any blonde people that have blonde eyebrows BUT MAYBE HE IS JUST ASHAMED TO HAVE SUCH BORING HAIR COLOUR AND DECIDED TO BE HIP AND COOL AND TRENDY AND BLEACH HIS HAIR and then dye it some flashy golden colour. you know this is plausible. i am amazing, i know, i know!
DRAMAS
i don't really like dramas because i like movies better, although it is kind of hard to pull off a plot twist as osdfmpsdofsdf-worthy as "hong gil dong" in a two-hour movie or something. but a lot of them are too long and i am too lazy or i don't have enough time to be gorging myself on pretty boys/girls/etc. so i just stay away. especially BOF! i hated "hana yori dango" and "liu xing hua yuan," idk about you. i think a lot of them are too cliché to be watching but whatever.
DONGHAE
DONGHAE, MY LOVE. i love him a lot. he was my first love from super junior because thu made icons and i was like "OH MY GOD." he is a dork and so funny and MAKES NO SENSE EVER and this is why i love him. because we are a lot alike. because... i don't know. but i love his voice also, and i think he is kind of underrated because it's so nice and relaxing and mellow and i like his accent and his face and his voice and his clothes from the latest performance of "sorry, sorry" because i am a sucker for leather gloves (LEATHER GLOVES) and the bartender vest thing. :')

FASHION DESIGN
this, along with bartending, is kind of what i want to do for the rest of my life. i love fashion. i love designing! i love clothes, they highlight you and reflects who you are. i mean, if you're cute and bubbly, you usually don't pick out the grungy stuff, and that's who you are. if you're grungy, you don't pick out the cute stuff. see how that works? i've actually drawn things that i'd want to make myself, but i'm always so lazy to actually buy cloth and measure out things and stuff. one day!! 8)
FRANCE
FRENCH PEOPLE. \o/ sometimes i wish i were french. i've realized the amazingness of french people ever since i was in first grade (i think?) when i was in ESL class and there was a french girl (named sophie! haha) in third grade and i thought she was the prettiest girl i've ever seen omg. she had such pretty blonde hair and THE MOST AMAZING BLUE EYES EVER ;A; and she was kind of soft-spoken (it was kind of like georgie henley's voice) and had a cute accent and sdofspodf,soidf yeah. i also love french bread. you know the bread that takes forever to cut and you can't even bite it? that's the stuff. i want to go there someday. :(

i don't believe in god; i'm atheist. but the concept of god, i think, is really interesting. why do you hand your life to someone else? why should god be the one who tells you what to do? why do you pray to someone that might not even let you into heaven? even so, i love to read religious texts and stories because it's fun to mix in. does that make sense? idk. i am one of the cooler atheists because i know people that go like "GOD IS SO STUPID" and i'm just like "wow, what a loser :|"

D:" and then when he totally did a 180 i was like "WOW SO CREEPY." i've always been kind of neutral towards him, but i think he can be so hilarious! but other times, i think he's really really headstrong and i'm just like "... :(" because his determination to do things is kind of amazing. i wish i was like that! he's more mule-ish than i am. :')

it's storytime with sophie! once upon a time, where i still liked to browse through deviantart (remember kids, this was like... in the middle of 2005 or smth okay :|) i came across THE MOST GORGEOUS COSPLAY EVER. I DON'T EVEN LIKE COSPLAY. the girl was so hot, srsly. maybe it wasn't a girl but i am going to refer to her as a girl because s/he had on eyeliner and mascara and a girly face and stuff BUT ANYWAY. it was hot. s/he looked so badass, too, with her chin in her palm and staring into the camera and sodifmpomonuisdf i'd try to find it so y'all can go "OH OUR GOD SOPHIE YOU'RE RIGHT" but i'm lazy. so i was like "I MUST FIND OUT WHO S/HE IS COSPLAYING" so then i found out! the dude's name was HIBARI and he was in this manga called REBORN and i was like "maybe i will read this just for the hot guy. 8)" i also wikipedia'd him, but that doesn't matter. actually, i was kind of intrigued, but did not act upon my urges! he also sounded kind of mean and creepy in the 2005 wikipedia article of him. 8(
and then nabila (nichiyobii) came along like... three years later and she was like "lambo!" and i was like "lambo!" and then i was like "hibari!!" and then i stopped for a while and then kat (remap) came and forced me onto many things and then i was like "... fine" and then i was like "O HAY" and then... the end? :(
also, this might kind of sound strange, but hibari has inspired me to be a better person, no matter how mean and creepy he might be. i mean sure we both might hate congested hallways but i've always hated congested hallways filled with REALLY LOUD SIXTH GRADERS WHO DON'T KNOW WHERE THEIR CLASSROOMS ARE sdfiospod,fsd but that's not the point! he is so determined, he does whatever he wants. sometimes it's not a good thing, but he does what he thinks is right and that's not always right too, but sdofimsdf do you get what i mean. IB + ALL ITS HORRORS
so our school is only composed of freshmen and already we have horror stories about IB courses. i'd want to take IB bio + IB art! but i heard that IB art is really intense and when my sister took the exams, she had 6's and 7's on every subject except a 4 in art and i was like "... lol." AP and IB are pretty much the same thing except the workload is different. you never hear anyone in AP classes complain about their stuff, but a lot of IB kids i know kind of "brag" about it, which is really annoying. also i hate 99.9% of the asian people in our school, trufax.

OH GOD don't talk to me about iconning T__T i hate good iconners. i hate my iconning. the only thing i could possibly icon is coloured manga and even that i don't do a lot because it takes so much time for one icon (like, 15 minutes for something moderate; around 10 for something easy). this is kind of why i only read pretty manga. so i can icon them. osidmfpsdofmsdofismdpf i'm the most OCD person about formatting i know. like, every time i look through someone's messy iPod, i cringe. it's like HOW CAN YOU LIVE WITH THAT. so everything on my iPod has to be perfect or else i will throw a hissy fit and most likely cry. every time something romanized comes up and it's supposed to be a katakana, i rage. every time the artist's name is normal (like "Sid" instead of "SID"), i seethe. i'm so creepy, i know. :(
i love my iPod nano, it's the yellow one! and i have nail polish from claire's that matches it, haha. the only problem i have with it is that it's so loud even at the lowest volume and the cover flow WHICH GETS ON MY NERVES SO MUCH and also the fact that it can only hold 8gb and movies drain the battery out like crazy.

"KITCHEN" (BOOK + PLACE)
amanda (essyllus) recommended (read: pimped it all over the place) in her journal and i figured, well, why not? and i found it by chance in our school library one day and then i fell in love with it. (this is reason #539068346 why i love japan!) the story is really quite simple but i think the way banana yoshimoto tells it is so beautiful. mikage is so quietly strong and determined to cook, even though she is alone, sometimes, and yuichi is so awkward, kind of, and i love him a lot and eriko! i love eriko, she is so warm and friendly and so motherly and soidfmpsodfsdfoimpdosf,sodpif T__T
and speaking of the kitchen, i like my kitchen, too! it's kind of cramped, but it's always neat and tidy. the window is right above the sink and when you look out, it's just three big lawns from me and my neighbors' houses and the deck we painted mahogany. it connects into the spacious part of the living room where the piano is. our refrigerator isn't glamorous or anything, but it's still pretty big. and because michigan is always so cold during the wintertime, i like to warm my hands above the stove. :)

LOST IN TRANSLATION
i've never seen the movie, so i'll just talk about the phrase. translating things into other languages without changing the meaning and still being funny is really hard! i think that's why learning a foreign language is so hard. taking a joke that only exists in english ("yo' momma") and turning into chinese ("ni de ma") is kind of like "... what?" because it only means "your mother" and people are like "what about my mother?" and stuff. taking "what's up, dawg?" into japanese just means "what's on top of the dog?" so it's interesting because we have our puns and they have their puns and it's just really really different.

MICHIGAN
i know i complain a lot about michigan, but that's because it's winter and winter is so long in michigan! i dread the end of fall every year T__T but the summer is really really nice and most of the time it's not that hot; i still walk around with a jacket and stuff but that's just me, haha. most people are like "lol what's wrong with you?! >:|" and i'm just like "... nothing... :(" the sky is so blue in the summer. and in the city where i live (troy! like in "the iliad"!) is really suburban unless you get to "downtown troy" where all the important buildings are, it's kind of nice, but you can't walk anywhere from my house except to maybe starbucks or troy high school or something. >:|
MUSIC
i love music! i have no idea where i'd be without it, honestly. i regret a lot for giving up the violin because besides writing and drawing, that's the only place i know i was talented in. i'm a natural musician, sort of. i found out that i'm pretty good for cello! even though i've only played it for a total of twenty minutes in my lifetime, haha. vibrato-ing on the cello is kind of difficult at first, but you get used to it after a while, but the sharps always kill me because it's the third finger instead of moving up second finger. :) the string bass, however, i have no idea how to play it at all. :|
