Yo, dudes and dudettes!
Point 1) I just referred to you all as dudes and dudettes. Because just saying "dudes" apparently wasn't good enough for me. Which I guess implies that I think gender distinctions are pretty important. "Different but equal," and all that jazz.
Point 2) I started with "Yo". Which implies a level of informalness/familiarity. It also implies you've all been hanging on, waiting for me to speak. I will make entries in this style.
Point 3) I ended point 1 with "and all that jazz." Sometimes, I don't finish a thought entirely.
Guess who's back? Katie's back. Tell a friend, Katie's back, Katie's back, Katie's back.
Guess who's back with a brand new hat, with a brand new hat, it's unmowngrass!
Point 4) My name is Katie
Point 5) I think I'm cool when I'm probably not
Point 6) My version of cool includes ripping off of an old Eminem song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVkUvmDQ3HY Point 7) As per point 6, I feel the need to justify/explain myself when it was probably perfectly obvious
Point 8) I think hats are cool
Point 9) Metaphorically, I have a new hat for LJ Idol, in that this time I'm a returning face, and last season I was a newbie
Point 10) I recently bought a hat and therefore I literally have a brand new hat too!
For those of you who missed the memo, two significant things have changed since the end of last season. In chronological order, I am now employed, as an accountant, two days per week! Also, I have been dating the best man I've ever known. Some of you may know him, it's
copyright1983. And yes, we met through this very competition, although it was after I was eliminated that we really started talking. So, cheers for that, Gary!! ::fistbump:: The wedding invite's in the post!*
* This is a metaphorical wedding invite. We have no imminent plans to get married, and we have only been dating for three months so far. However, if/when we do, yes, we'll send you one!
Point 11) I often refer to "the memo", or "did you miss the memo?" The Memo is a psychic memo, you're generally assumed to have seen it without anyone actually having shown it to you.
Point 12) I am glad to be employed
Point 13) I am an accountant
Point 14) I like my job
Point 15) Two days per week isn't enough
Point 16) Occasionally, this competition can be lifechanging ;-)
Point 17) If you missed the other memo (heh), Mike/
copyright1983 lives in California, and I live in England. But Skype is a wonderful thing.
Point 18) Point 17 applies only when it works!
Point 19) I think about weddings a lot. I watch a lot of wedding-based tv shows. Sometimes it's escapism. Sometimes it's being thankful that I don't have anything worse to worry about. :-)
Point 20) But, I hasten to add, for the record, that I think about plenty of other things too.
Point 21) Hopefully this is making sense so far. As I always say, When you don't know what to do, do you.
Point 22) Apparently, 'doing me' involves not being able to say anything without explaining it, and also going off on a lot of tangents. You'll get used to it.
Point 23) I also have a tendency to make things up, and then act like I've done it that way for ages (see point 21). ;-)
Good luck everyone. See y'all in the ring!
Point 24) I've picked up a lot of Americanisms lately. It's probably more to do with the internet in general, than the Californian.
