My weight loss journey!

Aug 18, 2010 18:38

I was going through old journal entries a few days ago & I came across a few in which I talked about my weight & how I felt about it - this was in May of 2005 - I was 22. I had just started doing The Firm workouts.

April 2006 - after the trip to Tahiti, I realized I was making little progress because though I was sticking to my workouts, I was eating horribly. So I joined Weight Watchers online - & saw results. To this day, I still do WW but not as strictly as counting points. I know what to eat, how much to eat, etc because it's been 4 years!
With the Firm, I bought each new body sculpting system that they would come out with - so I have over 40 DVDs now - I love them.

Anyway, I'm writing this to journal my progress. I'm proud of myself for reaching my ultimate goal because I wanted to, not because someone told me I need to lose weight.

Some of you already know that in the past, I was told by a few different people that I'd be perfect if you dropped 20 pounds or you shouldn't eat so much & the like. Those things made me feel really blah BUT I was never ever motivated enough to do something about it. No one wants to hear those words from people they're close to.
However, I made the decision to be healthy & look out for myself because it was what I wanted to do. Not because someone told me that's what I have to do. & that's also important to realize - you can't do something & expect it to stick if you're the one who isn't doing it for YOURSELF.

There are people I know who would rather eat 1-2 meals a day & workout - but that isn't the way. And also, when I say "meal" - I mean a protein shake or something small like that. When going out to eat, you enjoy your food; not just a salad. Or starving yourself the entire day in order to eat what you want. That's why I love WW and that's why I've stuck with it: you eat whatever you want! I love food too much to cut it out. I'm always hungry but I'm not snacking on junk anymore (aside from the few things I absolutely will never cut out ;D)

Sooo, I just wanted to share with friends why I'm a "Firm believer". I live by these dvds & got my sister into them. Wouldn't exercise with any other people! Love the Firm & the results I saw with doing the workouts religiously =)

Just some of the DVDs - the other half is elsewhere

These are a few questions that the Firm asked about my experience so I'm just c&p'ing.

* Your FIRM Story- your experience with The FIRM

* I started the firm in 2005 because I realized I needed to do something to lose some weight. I had been working on the treadmill for about a week, when my mom came home with two FIRM DVD’s she found at the store: Express Cardio & Cardio Sculpt Blaster. My mom used to firm all the time with the classic videos so she told me to try those DVDs and see if I liked them. I tried Express Cardio and was wiped out in 10 minutes! But I was hooked because it was fun, motivating, and really worked me out. I was sore so quickly after doing the workout and it was then that I realized I needed something like the FIRM to try to make exercising fun and different. After two weeks of doing these DVDs, I went out and bought the first BSS. It was so difficult for me to do Allie’s workout but I kept at it and took breaks whenever needed. I have asthma so I was getting out of breath so quickly, especially because I wasn’t used to workouts of that intensity. Over the course of that year & the ones following that, I bought BSS2, the TransFirmer, the WAVE, etc. I was hooked and bought every new workout system as they came out. I noticed results in ten workouts, especially from my lower body area, which is what I wanted to work on. It was definitely exciting and amazing to be able to see visible results so quickly into working out! After about 6 months, I definitely noticed changes in my upper body as well-it was so motivating to see that the FIRM worked, especially with a balanced diet. That was when I signed up for Weight Watchers online and that boosted my weight loss. My stamina also improved greatly. I used to have to use my inhalers before and during my workouts but within a year, I was not using them at all and I only stopped once or twice during my workouts. This was a huge goal for me to achieve because remembering the beginning days with Cardio Sculpt-I thought I would never reach the end! But slowly and surely, I was able to do that workout with only one “pause break” and that was huge for me. I have shared my love of FIRM over the years with all those close to me and one of the biggest things for me was getting my sister hooked onto the FIRM. She saw how dedicated I was and saw the changes, so that was her motivation and she also now does the firm religiously! My mom has also gotten back into the workouts, doing them at her own pace. I have been a FIRM believer since 2005 and will never quit. The workouts are challenging, motivating, and are a part of my life now.

* How has your success changed your life?

I've become more confident as a woman. I have realized how important it is to have good health habits, as well as why exercise is so important. Because of all my weight loss success, my family has also taken notice & have looked to me to help them lose weight and be healthy as well. It's made me feel that I have made an enormous impact on not only myself, but my family as well. Being healthy and fit has become a huge part of my family because of all the success I have experienced while on this journey. We are more aware of our food choices and ways to vary our exercise habits. I have found that my stamina increased greatly as well, I no longer have to use my inhalers while working out. I feel good everyday when I exercise with the FIRM, knowing I am healthy and this is the life I want to lead.

And here are some before & after pictures.
