Sariel's LOL was not just a memory change. It was quite comprehensive. His reality changed, though only his. He lives in the Nexus now, in a sprawling, one-story affair with large windows and roofed walkways between the different wings. His paintings are all there, with the notable exceptions of the ones that involve Raziel. Even the painting he ( Read more... )

Nagi's been going out for a lot of walks, so it's only inevitable that he'll eventually wander past the house. That doesn't mean he'll realize that it's Sar's.

At least he's in the area?

That's okay. The butterflies recognize Nagi. Some of them break off to flutter about him excitedly. A few more flit into the house through an open window.

It's not long before Sar strolls out of the house.

Nagi really isn't sure how he feels about being recognized by butterflies. It's just plain odd.

However, he will wave at Sariel.

Sariel's butterflies are very odd indeed. Nexus, go figure.

Sariel nods in response to the wave. "Hello, Nagi. Just as well you've stopped by, your painting is finished."

Slow blink of WTF goes here.

"...this is your place?"

Nagi gets an odd look now.

"You've been to my home before, Nagi."

"Yeah, I have...." Okay, so Nagi's getting a better feel for what that LOL must have been. He's just not in the mood to explain his guesses. "I guess I didn't realize it was along this route. I always PINpoint."

"True enough. Would you like to come in and see how the restoration went?"

Nagi is easily distracted by greed. "It's done already? Cool!" That means yes.

Sariel chuckles softly and leads Nagi inside. The house is very open and airy, the furnishings comfortable, often widely spaced. The place feels roomy. Sariel's art decorates the walls.

The studio doesn't look much different from the old one, aside from the walls not being stone. Sariel gestures to a canvas covered by a dustcloth.

"Is there a trick to pulling it off so that nothing falls down?" Nagi's not quite sure of the etiquette here and really doesn't want to offend Sar after he's done something so nice.

"Yes. You need to be taller," Sariel tells him, a gleam of mischief in his eyes. He walks over to remove the dustcloth himself. The painting is not as good as new, but it's been restored to good condition, the colors touched up in places.

Nagi scowls, but Sar probably won't see it. Maybe. It's a nice long-lasting scowl.

And it vanishes when Nagi sees the painting. He doesn't know a lot about art, so to his eye this is just perfect. "It looks wonderful. Thanks."

Sar doesn't need to see the scowl to be fairly sure it's there.

The dustcloth gets folded up and tucked away in a drawer. "I was pleased to do it. It's not a bad piece at all, and it would be a shame to have it ruined."

Nagi nods. "I don't have a lot that I consider irreplaceable." And most of those things are actually people....

"Nor do I, in the larger scheme."

Mostly just his paintings. Oh, his memory is perfect, he could re-paint any one of them, but copying a painting is something his artist's spirit rebels against.
