[Yeah, Booth, it's...a lot easier to talk to you when he's a dragon and on the other side of the village. No offense.]

Not all vampires are the same as those from our world.

But generally, especially with our sort of vampire, being fed from isn't enough. The person being fed from has to feed from the vampires' blood. That completes the transformation. And if that really has occurred, then I'm afraid there is no cure.

[Giles sighs bitterly and rests his head on his paws.]

Alternatively, the Malnosso can change villagers into vampires whenever they please. Has someone actually been bitten? Because that's still something to address, even if they didn't take any of the vampire's blood for themselves.

Uh. How do I lock this or make it a secure network? Hang on. [FIDDLES WITH IT. A lot. And then mostly gets it. Somewhat.]

So it could just be the Malnosso? Does that mean she'll change back?

And yeah... Bones... My partner and best friend. She woke up as a vampire. Or it happened last night. Um. I kind of gave her some blood. From my wrist. [Actually she just walked in and bit him and scared the bejeezus out of him, but he's not going to admit that.] Apparently she calculated it to to close to two pints? Or something.

Dusting her isn't allowed. Just. Ever. I don't care what happens, I trust her and no one's allowed to hurt her. So if I find the vampire that did do this... he can die.

[Giles would bump it up a little further, but...paws. A voice post is the best he can manage.]

It could be the Malnosso, yes. Considering what's happening to the village at large, I'm reasonably certain you could blame her transformation on the experiment. In which case, she would return to normal once it ended. It isn't the first time they've turned someone into a vampire and turned them back. And, in my case, that actually involved bringing me back to life.

[He sighs. Is he really going to have to be the one to explain this, Luceti? Really?]

No one will be dusting anyone unless she attacks or hurts someone. And even then, standard procedure would be to lock her up somewhere isolated and keep her fed with the bottled blood we receive until she changed back.

...I'm not saying it isn't possible that she might have been turned by normal means. If she isn't human again by sometime Friday, steps will have to be taken.

But they won't involve dusting.

Okay.

Thank you.

I'll hold you to that promise though. She's my partner, and I tried to tell her a hundred times over this place is serious and vampires are real here... well, maybe she'll understand now.

So by Friday. I don't think she'll go biting anyone though. Like I said, I kind of offered, and she's already torn up about it. Bones isn't a killer, she catches them.

Yes, well, if she tries to bite you without your "offering" next time, there are some breeds of vampire that can be kept at bay with a cross or crucifix. But, again, this all depends on what sort of vampire she is. Some of the ones in this village can function as empathic, reasonable individuals. Some can't.

I hope she does understand. Because this sort of thing happens every month. Maybe not the transformations, but the experiments and the insanity? Like clockwork.

Don't let her go outside in the daylight. With most sorts of vampires, it's uncomfortable at best and lethal at worst.

Mirror shouldn't be a problem. She just probably can't see her own reflection right now. Strange, but I never got the impression that vampires were particularly bothered by it.

Yeah, but wouldn't that hurt her? The crucifix I mean.

Okay, the rest shouldn't be too hard. Not like we have garlic around here anyway.

If she actually touches it? Yes.

But if the crucifix is effective at all, she'll immediately try and get far away from it. It's a basic vampire instinct.

Yeah, I covered all mine up in my drawers. It's kind of funny because she's so atheist that normally she'd just lecture me on how items can't have mystical properties or whatever.

Would a St. Christopher's medallion have the same effect do you know?

[Hm...]

I've only ever known crosses to work. I don't think she'd be terrify fond of a St. Christopher's medallion at the moment, but I don't think it's considered quite "powerful" enough to cause harm or real revulsion.

If you have any sort of crucifix necklace, however, I would advise wearing it. If it's small enough, it won't bother her unless she goes for your throat.

You think I should wear them? I don't want to hurt her though. And she's been polite. Just the wrist, like I said, I kind of offered before anyway.

Yes, I know. You said. That would be why I said to wear a small one.

It won't hurt her unless she tries to bite you, at which point a little bit of injury will soon be the least of your worries.

A small one... okay.

I don't think she would though... she seems really worried as it is. She keeps telling me to lie down and rest. Which isn't unusual, but that's my point.

Well, I hope for your sake and hers' that she's still in possession of her soul.

Either she's an exceptionally good actor, or she is.

She's pretty much the worst actor I know.

I've taught her enough to help me get through interrogations, but even then she barely manages. Besides Bones is just... she doesn't lie. Ever. If she didn't have a soul she wouldn't be more worried about me than I am.

...no, she probably wouldn't. Especially if she was only interested in feeding from you.

And not all vampires can fully distance themselves from their human self's deeper instincts.

Good to know... but I don't think she's anymore dangerous than she usually is. I mean if you're really worried I'll try to take her gun or something.
