New feather, yes?

[Okita bows his head and adjusts the brown paper bag in his arms, smiling brightly.]

Welcome to Luceti. Do you need any help?

About all I can get, haha. Just what is Luceti? I mean, besides a town of winged people I guess.

We're all taken from our homes like you and brought here, given these wings and...

[Okita turns and pulls his hair over his shoulder, revealing his neck - and the barcode on it. Just a quick look because having his back to a stranger makes him nervous. He'll turn around soon enough and face him again.]

One of those. We don't know what brings us here, but the ones who trap us in the village are the Malnosso. It's relatively peaceful, but there are a few things to be careful of. Mainly, protect your wings. If they are injured or removed, you can die. Death isn't permanent here, but it comes with a price...

[Okita tilts his head back slightly, tapping his chin with one finger.]

Aaaaand......Oh! There are experiments every so often. I don't really know why. Perhaps the Malnosso are bored. Do you mind reading? I can keep explaining or I could show you Raine-san's guide. It's long, but it does explain quite a bit.

Whoa. [Quickly takes it all down mentally.] All right. Yeah, I can read. Is it a pamphlet guide or something?

[He laughs a bit - notably a bit girlishly - and then pulls his journal out from the top folds of his kimono. After juggling the bag and the journal for a moment, he gets it open to the right page and hands it over.]

You'll find it in here. If you have your journal with you, you can find it in yours, too.

[He pulls his back slightly and nods.]

Yes, it is! It should have your name on it somewhere.

Huh. Go figure.

So this thing does a lot, huh. [Magic book! Oooh-wee-oooh.]

Yes, it does! You can write to others, speak to others, and even show people what you are doing through it. It's magic.

[Seriously. He really does think it's some kind of magic even after people explaining it to him.]

Do you have such magic things where you are from?

No magic. Though it sounds a little like an iPad... with paper. Does this thing get the 'net or reach back home too?

.......................net? Why would you want a book to be a fishing net?

Uh. No. The internet? Never mind, I'm guessing not.

[Yeah, that would be a not.]

Oh! I'm sorry. I never introduced myself. My name is Oki-- [Wait. Another look at the stranger and he'll change the order.] Souji Okita. You're from the West, yes? You're very tall.

West, uh, yeah! I'm an American. [Places the name as Japanese and gives a small polite bow along with the offered handshake. One of his best friends is Japanese, and he's been there on transfer before.]

Special Agent Seeley Booth. Just call me Booth.
