[Hello there stranger person walking around. Okita is out doing some errands when he sees Mr. Tall, Dark, and Extremely Lost still poking around.]

[Okita bows his head and adjusts the brown paper bag in his arms, smiling brightly.]

[Okita turns and pulls his hair over his shoulder, revealing his neck - and the barcode on it. Just a quick look because having his back to a stranger makes him nervous. He'll turn around soon enough and face him again.]

One of those. We don't know what brings us here, but the ones who trap us in the village are the Malnosso. It's relatively peaceful, but there are a few things to be careful of. Mainly, protect your wings. If they are injured or removed, you can die. Death isn't permanent here, but it comes with a price...

[Okita tilts his head back slightly, tapping his chin with one finger.]

Aaaaand......Oh! There are experiments every so often. I don't really know why. Perhaps the Malnosso are bored. Do you mind reading? I can keep explaining or I could show you Raine-san's guide. It's long, but it does explain quite a bit.

[He laughs a bit - notably a bit girlishly - and then pulls his journal out from the top folds of his kimono. After juggling the bag and the journal for a moment, he gets it open to the right page and hands it over.]

Yes, it does! You can write to others, speak to others, and even show people what you are doing through it. It's magic.

[Seriously. He really does think it's some kind of magic even after people explaining it to him.]

West, uh, yeah! I'm an American. [Places the name as Japanese and gives a small polite bow along with the offered handshake. One of his best friends is Japanese, and he's been there on transfer before.]
