my current life (the reason I'm looking forward to summer)

Feb 26, 2007 12:57

Current Work Schedule:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
Scheduled 5 shifts each week.
(Meaning I work 4 days a week, one of them on a double.)

Current School Schedule:
Monday- Advanced Sculpture 1:30-3:30
Tuesday- Sociology of the Family 8-9:20 am, independent study with Tarbell
Wednesday- Advanced Sculpture 1:30-3:30
Thursday- Sociology of the Family 8-9:20 am, independent study with Rosenberg, Artists in Society 3-6, modeling some Thursdays 6-9

Sounds easy, right? Not a lot of classes, shouldn't be a lot of work...

Current To-Do List:
Sculpture: (I am currently working on 3 very large pieces)
By the end of this week:
-finish research in order to form correct proportions
-finish drawing sketches for sculptures
-make to-scale maquettes of all 3 sculptures
-find a welder and send welder a large packet of detailed information

after I get stuff back from the welder:
-finish 3 very large sculptures by April 17th
(this involves making large metal structure attached to what I need from the welder, covering said structure in papier-mache, making very small, detailed parts to go onto this structure, painting the entire thing, and covering the whole thing in resin

Independent Study with Tarbell:
-scan images from about 10 binders that will be printed in a book she is working on
-get a new computer and set it up in the slide room because the current one can't handle the scanning that is necessary for this

Independent Study with Rosenberg:
-Read the remainder of 3 entire books by the end of the semester
-Write a lot of stuff about said 3 books

Sociology of the Family:
-Thankfully, not a whole lot. Just a book report at the moment.
I read the entire book yesterday after work.

Artist in Society:
-Thankfully, not a lot here either.
-write resume, artist statement, and a few other things for Thursday

So.... This is currently my life. I have a lot of shit to do. All at once.

Needless to say, the first few weeks of my summer will be spent sitting on my effin ass, doing a whopping nothing because I will have earned it, especially if I make it the entire way without a mental breakdown, stroke, heart attack, or any other severe side effect of the stress I'm already severely feeling.

So, if anyone has any advice for how to cope with ridiculous amounts of stress and deadlines that I could only meet if there weren't so much other stuff that had to be done at the same time... please pass that info along to me.
