Good News- I officially have a place to live! Hooray!
Bad News- I can't move in until September 1st. And classes start August 31st. Damn.
This means I will have to take the train from my aunt's house on Long Island to Manhattan for my first day of school. Which will be expensive and time-consuming. But I can do it for one day. The apartment is great though. It's in a 3-bedroom in Ridgewood which is a cute neighborhood. It used to be an Italian neighborhood but now has a lot of Polish and various other Eastern Europeans. And my grandmother and great-aunt grew up there! It's funny how things come full circle.
Went out to LI last weekend to see the family. My cousin asked if I had any furniture and when I answered no, she offered to give me her old queen sized bed that's in storage which prompted my other cousin to offer her old couch in the basement, followed by my aunt offering to give me lamps, and then the first cousin offering her old armoire....pretty quickly I was given more furniture then my apartment will hold. You have to love Italian family!
