Avast Trombone Blare

We've just written our three hundredth, uh. Well, we don't call them reviews do we (we'd be breaking the trade descriptions act). Still. Three hundred down, and another fifty still to go just for us to catch up from the end of last year. It was a nice one, though, we were happy with it. Not the write up. The song.

We haven't uploaded it yet though, so we won't like. In the meantime.

Peggy Sue And The Pirates
We totally didn't expect to like this band. Mostly because, well, they're really rather simple. Not as people, we're sure they're both very clever girls, however, the music they make is the type that we're pretty sure absolutely thousands of absolute no marks on OhSpace are making all the time. Some vocal and an acoustic guitar. Except somehow these have managed to fully lift themselves off the page and into our consciousness with stripped bare lyrics and simple but effective (the 'but effective' is significant) harmonies, overlapping vocals and minimalist guitaring. Maybe they'll never make it big but we guarantee we'll have a CD of theirs before this summer hits.

Chik Budo
Much more likely to make it big are Chik Budo - despite having saxophones. Yes, we have a problem with brass despite The Rapture using it to good effect and absolutely loving Kiss Kiss Kiss by Love Is All (which is squeeky as you like). However, screw us and our opinions, when Chik Budo decide they're going to bring the party it is pretty bloody messy and right up our alley. We like it a great deal and think you should check them and their funk oriented disco squelch and sax party out.

Manda Rin
Yes. It's sad to say (again) that Data Panik are dead. Sad because they were awesome band but more sad because they died almost against their will. The words Criminally and Ignored aren't ones we try to use all the time but they are definitely valid ones in this case. Luckily for us and the soul of music, Manda Rin, lead femal vox of the band is still doing her own thing and it sound very good. Similar but a little less insistant, these are still early days for the girl by herself so if someone just takes their head out the sand and pays attention to her we might be in for a treat yet. Do it. For heaven's sake.
