20 Various Production, Soho.
Dubstep does seem to be propping up this slut wave heavy chart but that's just cuz Wonder, Skream and Various Production's albums are all quite new to us. ONly got them a couple of days ago and we haven't even had chance to listen to the Various Production album in full (100 new songs this week alone, not much time to take 'em all in). Again, another Boomkat suggestion (we love you, Boomkat) but one they'd been pushing in our faces for some time now without us taking them up on it. We bloody well should have, this album is absolutely luscious. We didn't know what to expect. Fuzzy dubstep electro soul 'n' bass leftfield breaks and garage. Again, Soho here could've been any one of the songs on an excellent album. Expect to hear us mention them a lot over the next little while.
19 Ears, Everything Bless, Everything Fine.
Ears owes us six quid or something. Maybe even more. In fact, we'll just call it an even tenner. We tried to buy his album offof his MySpace but he didn't send it. Now he doesn't answer our very polite e-mails. Bastard. Luckily for him though, when he laces a track it's pretty hot so we can't stay mad at him. Everything Bless, Everything Fine takes his trademark love of the word fine and puts it to another Grime Crossover track and just leaves us wondering, when exactly is that grime crossover gonna happen?
18 Goose, British Mode (Jester Remix).
This was was recommended by our other guru du music,
Puregroove.co.uk. In honesty, all our music taste we just steal off them and Boomkat then pretend to be cool by cross referencing the two pretty disperate websites. We had our reservations about this Belgian electropop outfit, not even bite we thought. British Mode, it turns out, is pretty damn heavy in fact and the Jester remix just adds more beats, more bleeps, more breakdowns and more broken vocals which, really, meant we were always gonna be suckers.
17 Uffie, Hot Chick (Bonus Beat).
Uffie is our surprise package of the end of 2006. We didn't even know who she was until our local record store owner (we finally have one, kids!) recommended her as a Alkon favourite. We bought in cuz Hot Chick was produced by Mr Oizo and now we're buying up everything with the girl's name on. This is probably our favourite moment of hers but Pop The Glock is a close contender. The original Hot Chick is a really good record but this Bonus Beat remix is just a bit glitchier. Which, obviously, is where our heart lies.
16 Tiger Force, Five Six I Got Sticks!!!.
From the impeccable Marquis Cha Cha stable, Tiger Force are yet another awesome band as hand picked by the label offshoot of Puregroove the shop (told ya). They're like Bearsuit trapped in Add n To (x)'s analogue treasure chest. The mental age of particularly juvenile twelve year olds, they throw colourful fun bubbles at all manner of noises and make the whole thing go pop. Both songs on the Syntax Error single are equally good, we had trouble deciding which to squeeze into this exceptionally high quality chart.
