Almost Back Here

Dec 20, 2006 21:59

So. Finally fucking finally, we're back online. We'll start uploading reviews hopefully over the next couple of weeks (well, no, make that start writing and uploading reviews) and then all the regular stuff will be picked up on again next year. Which, to be fair, is also in the next couple of weeks. Which means, no, alas, no massive batch of Twenties for you to get your tiny gnarled teeth into. Still, we'll have one in the absolute first week of January and this year we'll manage a full set of twelve months. Huzzah.

In the meantime, can we just say, we're not, like, bespectacled computer geek snobs who only use Linmacs or whatever and hate Microsoft (other than out of obvious lipcurling envy) but my word, since we've got our mainframe back online there have been two updates waiting for us, one for Internet Explorer which we tried and didn't like (too touchy feely, not, uh, computery enough - it's not the future yet, we're not scared by menu toolbars y'know) and worse than that was the one for Windows Media Player.

Now.

We're absolutely Dead Hardcore Media Player users and so we were, in a bespectacled, geeky way, quite looking forward to Media Player 11. TURNS OUT. What a shithouse piece of software that is. It's absolutely schizo and worse, worse, tries to download the cover art for any piece of music you try to play. Worse still, whenever your play something, it tries to figure out where you can buy it from online. Sorry, mate, why would I want to buy this particular piece of music, I'm clearly ALREADY PLAYING IT. Gash indeed.

Anyway, that's the last two months worth of rants unloaded. In happier news, we went to see Annie Mac and Erol Alkan DJing. I can happy say, on a personal, non-No, Really level, I'm in love with Annie Mac. Excellent.

annie mac, erol alkan
