Tonight out was superb. There was singing and dancing and a good band and a great band. They also played Tick by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and something else awesome although I can't remember what off the top of my head. Plus the now staple Justice vs Simian. I don't mean to be one of those "are you just finding that" types but seriously, I got a copy of Justice vs Simian about two years ago, free on the cover of a magazine. I didn't "find it" or anything, it was just there. It sounded good and I accepted it as such. Now, suddenly, two years later it's being re-released and is single of the week on Radio One. Crazy.
because we. are. your friends. you'll. never be alone again.
Anyway, yes, me and my dancing partner went to The Empire to Club NME. Spending almost £10 I blew my budget a little but it was fun so I'll give it a by. The first band were Scissors For Lefty I believe and they were okay. Not my personal favourites but some nice basslines and they at least had a keyboard even if they didn't abuse it the way keyboards should really be abused. The second band, however, were called Holy Fuck, were from Canada somewhere and sounded a lot like Out Hud (who, randomly (considering how little music I see live), I have also seen live). They were superb but alas, Middlesbrough rarely appreciates great music.
However, yes, I made sure to dance. I couldn't afford their album but hopefully I'll be able to get it from somewhere because listening to one of their songs online it sounds just as good but less like Out Hud which means better in its own right. Which is, clearly, even more good. Hah.
Overall, then, top notch entertainment. Battle are playing on Saturday and I've got ten quid left for that. Then next Thursday it's White Rose Movement, a favourite of my dancing partner, followed by The Cooper Temple Clause, a favourite of mine. The added bonus of the night was My Mate's Band leaving a voicemail of their latest song on my phone. Their latest song points to a superb tightening of their sound, which is very heartening. Plus it's catchy. Excellent! Excellent all round. Brilliant.
what's that coming over the hill, is it a mo-osque, is it a mo-oosssqquee!
