Last night was a good night, just having fun wise. However, on a more serious, journalistic note, it was also a little preview of the new The Rapture single. Which was actually quite good sounding. Since the bitterly disappointing (my word how disappointing) Echoes album all we've heard from The Rapture - other than some dire b-sides - has been a reassuringly stunning remix for indie disco heroes Supersystem, under their remix name HUSHHUSH. The song we heard last night was quite bassy in a keyboard-y kinda way, rather than a bass guitar-y kinda way. Still, nothing wrong with that, simply it more hums than twangs. The rest of it sounded pretty good and certainly sounded like it could be a good single.
However we'd all had a bit to drink last night and they played it about five songs after House Of Jealous Lovers so we just sang the lyrics to that again. Oh yeah, one hand, inside the other, house of, jealous lovers, jealous lovers house, break dooowwwnnnn!
the rapture,
house of jealous lovers
