Ode To Sticky

I read on a website somewhere recently that "Sticky isn't the force he used to be". Not sure how they figured that. Except for the admittedly weak tune that was Lethal B's Uh Oh (but then, Lethal B can make a tune kinda weak anyway so I won't hold too much against him for that) he's entirely on point all the time. SLK's only big tune so far, Sticky. Miss Dynamite's only tune ever, Sticky. Anyone even know who Tubby T is?

This is an ode to All I Wanna Do. The song that has been in my Twenty Songs list almost without fail since its creation. I'm not even gonna bother putting it in any more because, frankly, I don't think a week will ever go past in which I don't rewind that song four or five times. If it comes on, or I start humming it in the shower I will always have to play it, and play it twice. I only have a truncated version from a magazine mounted mix CD but to be honest that 1:21 is all but my favourite slice of R+B ever. Quite understated for him but just absolutely pitch perfect. It rolls, bounces, skips and hops all at the same time and that's movement you really need to have a mastery over your sound to create.

So, this is just to say that even if you don't ever see it on Twenty Songs again, Sticky's All I Wanna Do is always in my heart and, more importantly, never far from my speakers.

they should know, they should see it written on my bones, they should see, i'm fed up with the lies they tell, music is my life, love, won't change it for nothing else, fed up with the mission, we need some recognition today, (that's why i'm sayin'),

all i wanna do is hear my song on the radio, or in the disco...

all i wanna do, sticky
