Still Selophane Wrapped
Three singles this week, nothing exciting at all. Very annoyed by that. Still, got no cash so I should be grateful. I'm not, let's get that completely clear, but I should be.
I'm only just sitting down to listen since work so unbelievably cuts a swathe through my days. First up is Everything Is Under Control by Coldcut. I bought it for two reasons, three if you include the fact it was only two quid. Firstly it's by Coldcut and really as the originators of Ninja Tune and complete pioneers I should own Something by them. Secondly because it's got the Return of The Underdog Remix on it and it's a well known fact that I adore The Underdog.
After that is The Game's Put You On The Game, because it's produced by Timbaland. There are people who read this who might say to me "The Game, are you joking." You know who you are. Well perhaps, perhaps there was a time I'd've said the same thing but y'know what. Oh well. I have a Coldcut song in my collection, a single by O Fracas and Maps' To The Stars. I'm well 'ard me, I can afford to have some The Game. Heh. Plus it's a well known fact I love Timbaland and it annoys me how little influence he seems to have these days, how much Pharrel's presence has overshadowed the genuine ownership he had over R+B back in the day. So it's nice he can still produce stuff that sounds as shiny pop new as Star Trak.
Finally is The Pipettes. To be honest I'll probably prefer The Game's single and you see, despite the fact you've all heard of The Game and all you who turn your noses up at it probably couldn't name two Pipettes songs, they're far more poppy them him and the single I have, a double a-side with I Like A Boy In Uniform (School Uniform) and It Hurts To See You Dancing So Well, seem to have a lot less substance. We'll see how we get on with this, though. It's on Memphis Industries and we like Memphis so it's nice to support the troops.
Currently we're on the Solid Groove Remix of Everything Is Under Control by Coldcut. It's a bit dull. It's nice enough but I wish I didn't have to listen to the whole thing riiight now. Oh well. Rules is rules eh.
