Right. So I actually sat down and watched some MTV2 today. Been a while I know. I should rota it into my day. I actually watched some MTV2Eclectic the other day but it was mostly old music, nothing too inspiring. However what I must admit I do very much like is Artic Monkeys' new single, something about the dancefloor and I've been saying it nonstop for ages. In fact to be honest the main reason I think I've been saying it because someone else said it and I didn't know where it came from. Now it's utterly imbedded. They played it at some otherwise unengaging indie venue this weekend and through a mid-drink hangover I screamed the lyrics in the face of my erstwhile team leader while my head split down the middle. Very uplifing. We're looking forward to that one, definitely.
It was also nice to see that Test-Icicles or however they're punctuating their name these days Test! Icicles. Testicles. Nice to see they're releasing Circle Triange Square (or, whatever order that's in) as their next single. Of their early recordings, back in their MySpace days, (add me! add me!), that was definitely my favourite.
To be honest, I only watched a little of it. I'm going down to watch some more now I think while I make some food. Bit disappointed Maximo Park and Editors have released their earlier singles but I guess that's to be expect, in both cases it was their better release. Actually. I heard something that sounded like new Arab Strap on the radio the other day. I'm listening this iLiKETRAiNS single again. Dunno where I got the Arab reference from. Anyway, new Arab Strap sounds interesting but I would definitely need to hear it again and iLiKE is just a journey through the red and dismal corners of some institutionalised child gothic writer's crumbling psyche. Replete with buzzing guitars. My kind of music. The new Radiohead anyone? Hah.
