FOR THE LOLZ

((The True Encounter))
"Wolf!" cried my cunning heart
At every sheep it spied,
And roused the countryside.

"Wolf! Wolf!"-and up would start
Good neighbours, bringing spade
And pitchfork to my aid.

At length my cry was known:
Therein lay my release.
I met the wolf alone
And was devoured in peace. -- Edna St. Vincent Millay

Jon: dont fully get it....remember not very abstract in thinking
may have to read it a few times

me: "My cunning heart" indicates that she's not being entirely honest. The first two stanzas indicate that she's pulling a "girl who cried wolf" scenario. The third stanza displays how the plot worked -- now that the neighbours won't come at her cries, she can be devoured by the wolf.

Jon: so she wanted to be eaten by a wolf? wtf

me: For multiple innuendo meanings of "eaten"? Sure.

Jon: ...oh
ah
/facepalm
I get it
derp
fucking poetry
