Interview with David Chong Lee
My favorite artist used to be Sok Do. He was a Chinese painter. He recommended a way. It's just one brush stroke all the time. Just one line. It's really hard at the beginning, but if you keep doing one point you free your mind.
One of my favorite metaphors is the idea of a bird, or anything, any animal breaking, even a human breaking through the womb or birds breaking through the eggshell to be born. It's like they needed that safe world that incubated their life, but if they stayed a second longer it would have killed them.
They needed the egg, they needed the womb, but they had to destroy the world to come into it.
You have to destroy the world sometimes to progress.
"One stroke is 10,000 strokes." The stroke is made by the 10,000 strokes before it. Picasso said something to this affect as well.
"It didn't take me 10 minutes to do this; it took my whole life."
