[There was something about this child, as he stood there, and she guessed he had something to do with illegal trade. What it was for, she had yet to find out. However, unlike the children around, there was this look in his eye. Carefully, she made her way to him, pretending to be just some random passerby; she knew what damage she could cause if she ruined a trade deal for him, being that she was not his contact. Pulling up her coat, she shivered.]
[He's almost startled when the woman speaks. But he certainly doesn't jump a little. Surely not. Most people tend to ignore his existence, and so he eyes her cautiously. This isn't unusual for him. He eyes everyone cautiously, whether he's at "work" or not.
[A quick look at her confirms that she's not the contact he's waiting for. Is she just a random passerby making idle conversation? An undercover vice-cop? Who the hell even knows?] It's cold enough.
[He's actually not that cold, and would have worn a lighter jacket had this not been a business outing. But the woman is a stranger. She doesn't know that.]
[There, that look, it was a strong one. It's a pity a child like him was stuck doing this kind of work. She chuckled as she pulled up her coat a little more; unfortunately, the weather was affecting her (she was sure she'll never be used to the cold), and she knew she shouldn't be out long unless she had more layers.]
Aha, this is not a good day to be waiting outside, I suppose? Should you not be inside?
[He has to be clever. Stupid drug-runners get arrested, or killed, or robbed of their goods by desperate junkies. Possibly even the both of the latter two.]
I don't need some stranger deciding what's best for me.
[Such is the life of this harsh world. His fiestiness is also a good sign too.]
I suppose that is correct, there hasn't even been any introductions. [So she bows her head politely] I am Sen Linh Đoàn, a guest to this city, from South East Asia. It is nice to meet you.
[This knocks him off his guard for a moment. Most people are put off by his attitude and either cop one back or finally leave him alone. But she's staying. She's staying and she's being polite. This confuses him, and in that confusion, it doesn't occur to him to give her a fake name.] Toushirou.
[But he still has presence of mind to only offer his given name. Divulging his full name could be asking for trouble, and surnames are easier to track than given ones.]
It is nice to meet you, Toushirou. [She can see him being cautious, and considered the possibility that may not be his real name, after all, he had been very smart with his responses so far. And if it is, he only gave one name, so this was a good move. Still, seeing someone in a situation similar to hers a while, she can't help but reach out, even discreetly.]
Once you have finished your duty, perhaps you would like some tea? There is a lovely cafe nearby.
[He can't help but look at her strangely. People aren't this nice. Not to him. What's her game? This can't be what it seems like, can it?]
... Why? [Why are you smiling at him? Why does he suddenly get the feeling that you know exactly what he's doing? Why would you even want to spend any time with him? Just . . . why?]
[He does not know what to do with this sympathy. So he folds his arms defensively and looks away. It's an obvious tell, and he knows that, but he can't help the reaction.]
Why do you assume that it would? [As if the other tells hadn't been enough, his voice is as tight and defensive as his posture.
[Yes, his parents had died a few years ago. Yes, he's only doing this out of necessity. But he doesn't like hearing someone else say it.]
[Ah, look at that. His body language is screaming it.]
Your--...well it's not a story that is rare, is it? [She might as well leave his dignity alone, for now!]

[He knows that and he curses himself for it. Damn, could he have reacted in any more obvious fashion?
[He catches her slip, though some part of him is grateful that she's backing off of personalizing it.] I suppose not.
[He almost asks her what this chance was, that she'd been given. But no. Not in the open like this.
[Cautiously, he glances back to her. He . . . really doesn't want to spend his whole life doing things like this. But can she be trusted? That's not something he can do easily. And it's not just himself that he has to think about.] I have people I need to take care of.
[If this is going to cut him off from family, there's no deal. No matter what else the offer entails.]
[It was the reply which sold it. He had qualities this world needed. She reaches into her bag, taking out a card. On it was her name and details, and she puts it into his hand.]
With just that, I can tell you're honourable and loyal. Don't worry, this chance won't take you away from them, some sacrifices do not need to be made.
Sometimes life can be a lot more simpler than we think. I will be waiting.
