[That brother of his. Such a pain in the ass he could be. No, in truth, it's Sora that's a lot of the reason he keeps going. He wants to go on. Even when things get hard. It's Sora who found him when things went wrong and he couldn't even remember his name. But while most might have wallowed in self-pity, might have held each other at arm's length over amnesia, Roxas had kept close to his bro. Arguably, even, he's even closer to him.
He's not carefree like Sora necessarily. But he knows they have to do what they have to do to survive. So, he'll let him be that way. He'd even take all the blame if he could- though he knows Sora wouldn't accept that. But for now, he'll just be glad to have someone beside him that gives him that same idiot smile. The one Sora currently fashions himself with at that moment as he addresses Roxas. Roxas raises a brow before grinning himself.]
But we haven't even gotten to the best part of today yet. You know the day's never the same without a bit of icing on the cake. [His smile grows just a little mild. It's a term an old friend used to use. A term he feels a strong affinity to.]
[ Roxas. It had been a hard one- not only with a vanishing family life, but also the an incident that had happened not too long ago. The only family he had left-- the source of hope he clung to-- had forgot nearly everything. Call it selfishness, but Sora would refused to leave Roxas' side, even through that time. Though helping the other try to trigger the memories lost, Sora himself felt a sense to refuse what was happening. It would only make sense, right? If Roxas forgot about him, then there would be no one left.
It was pure determination that drove to boy to assist as much aid as possible. And for that, he was grateful. An unbreakable relationship. ]
I gotcha. [ That idiot smiles grows. Hey, someone has gotta keep up with the ray of sunshine in a dark alley, right? ] Just don't bring up cake-- you're making me hungry!
[Was it really selfishness though? Or was it dedication? Whatever the case, it's something that Roxas always would appreciate. Even in his uncertainties, Sora was there. Sora didn't just tell Roxas he was his brother. He showed Roxas that he was his brother. And that meant so much more than Roxas could ever clearly admit or describe.
Roxas' grin turns a little wider at the sight of Sora's own growing goofier. He really doesn't mind that sunshine. He just thinks he gets so carried away sometimes. But that's one of the best things about Sora. 'cause then he can mess with you, bro. Shaking his head and mock scoffing at the last part.]
Seriously, Sora? So, should I say cookies instead? Or maybe cupcakes. [Never said he couldn't be a pain in the ass himself at times.]
[ Whatever the means or reasons were back then, none of it mattered now. All Sora knew that was he had Roxas, and Roxas had him. That's all he needed to know-- and that's all that kept him going.

Not all the time, but 'Most', Roxas mutters with a cheekiness that almost parallels his brother for a moment there. He tucks his hands into his pockets as Sora trails after like a lost puppy almost. A description that really touches base more with how quickly Sora's mood seems to change, the pout from before vanishing as if he was never bothered in the first place.
The detour he takes is familiar territory. But then they tend to frequent sweet, uh. Borrowing. Pretty often. Both boys are just like that. It's a wonder neither of them have lost a ton of teeth with the way they snack on sugary goodness like it could totally serve for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes that... admittedly has become an occasional practice but only at times. His smile has thinned out but he's looking reasonably content if not focused. Because there's still people that they just don't want to run into around the area, no matter how well they know it. How much safer it is than most. They would be at their destination soon enough though.]

Sure, he had grown accustom to not eating his daily dose of good meals, but hey- at least it was food. And considering their lifestyle, it was something to be grateful for.
Yet the moment he noticed Roxas' change of expression, Sora allowed his own smile to falter, yet only in the slightest. Through his cheerful composer, there was always times to act serious, right? More so in a place like this. So with that in mind Sora continued to stay close to his brother, keeping only their promised destination at the forefront of his mind. ]

He takes even, silent steps as they finally seem to come to their destination. There's a small bakery around the corner where he's swiped snacks on occasion. It's not really the smartest place to steal from. The owner can tend to pound the living daylights out of thieves. But Roxas is feeling lucky and those cupcakes are sounding kind of enticing to him, too. He slinks over to the wall, pressing his back against it and sidling along it until he's close. And that's where he pulls a piece of broken mirror for his pocket, angling it to get a scope of things.]
Hm... Looks clear. [His voice is quieter than before. In the zone with this now.]

Sora remains closely along side Roxas as he nears the the bakery. Oh, this place. There had been numerous times where he had taken things from here, and he even had some nice bruises to prove it. It was still a small price to pay for something this good, and Sora had took it upon himself not to let that thought get in the way from the goal ahead- and nice cupcake just waiting to be eaten. So with the a-okay from Roxas, the brunette nodded upon confirmation. It was show time! ]
Gotcha. [ A smile eased smoothly across his lips before taking the hood of his jacket and plopping it over his spikes. Hey, even if they did get caught, best not to know who exactly did it, right? And with that he finally took the first step out into the open; hunched, and keeping himself as silent as possible.
The nice display of cupcakes were easily laid out in the open-- a perfect opportunity to just snatch them and run off. So signaling Roxas to follow suit, the boy inched towards his prize just a few feet away. ]

But he swears that would bring out a killing intent to the shop owner. However~~ Sometimes is good. He can work with that.
